The church is nice and they had a array of old relics from the church's history. It was around 3 Euros for entry and it was worth visiting.

We have never been anywhere with Christmas markets before so had no idea what to expect, but this square housed the biggest in Riga, and it was tiny (according to our friends who have visited many cities with Christmas markets). Not being a massive Christmas fan this suited us fine and there were lots of lovely stalls selling crafts, food, etc.

A rather plain cathedral inside but a wonderful Gothic organ which is in the process of being restored. It was being worked on during our visit and it was interesting to see the conservation in action. The cloisters were interesting- probably the best part actually- with lots of ancient artefacts from around the city including an old gold cockerel weather vane from the roof of the cathedral. Worth a look.

We payed 3 euro per person to see the church. Simple, but harmony place. Lot's of details to see.
The most beautiful organ!

Located centrally in Old Riga, you are bound to end up up at this enormous cathedral at some point during your visit. Not as ornate as many other cathedrals, it is still impressive because of it's sheer size - the largest medieval church in the Baltic.

The huge organ, currently being restored is a sight to behold, we weren't fortunate enough to visit while it was being played, but I imagine the acoustics would be fabulous. The stained glass windows and elaborately carved pulpit were also notable, together with the modern and beautifully simple font.

The 3 euro entrance fee is reasonable and includes access to the cloisters where objects are seemingly randomly scattered - including the statue of Peter the Great that used to stand where the Freedom Monument is now situated.
