I've been to Budapest last weekend.
A superior room was booked at the Intercontinental for three nights.
I 'm sure I was in Budapest ( I had been there before ) but I'm not sure I got the right Hotel.
There are fake handbags, fake watches, fake apparel, even fake news but I had never heard of fake hotels.
But there are, yupp!
This one has a Intercontinental sign , black shuttle Mercedes, a Concierge but when you "hit" your superior room is anotrher dimension.
I had a nice blured view of the Danube and the Palace (blured because the window was dirty, very dirty),
The room was small with two small beds with miserably used bedding in a arrangement that was new to me , a tiny bathroom with a shower curtain and something really new, nice, modern and hi-tech - a blade disposer!
Well, at least the staff is nice and the breakfast was OK.
But,was it a Intercontinental? a 5 star?
NO

Visited this hotel back in august last year and we were pleasantly surprised by high quality service we received. As we travel a lot we can gladly mark this property as very good. We got a nice spacey room with a beautiful river view, it absolutely corresponds to all pictures published on websites. Room looks clean, is very well equipped and gives you the feeling of being wrapped in luxus. Also the staff service and attitude was admirable. This hotel indeed values their guests in every way.

The hotel is superbly located, right on the river, with great views of the city. (For sure ask for a river view, well worth it). Easy access by car, foot and train to almost all the important sites in the city. The staff are super friendly and always ready to help. The rooms are small, and this was disappointing, the other disappointing thing was the super slow internet at the hotel. The breakfast was really good, with a nice variety of items to chose from. I fell in love with the gym, its not the biggest, but does have almost everything and its very well maintained. The concierge helped arranged a number of activities and dinners for us as well, all well worth their recommendations, a special recognition has to go out to Ms. Dorina Gratzka who made sure our stay was flawless! The spa was terrific as well with excellent massages on offer too. For sure will stay here again, you cant go wrong with this hotel.

Room tip: for sure take the river view rooms

Stayed here before our Viking River Cruise last April 2017. Location is ideal. There were a lot of restaurants and shops nearby. The view from our room was amazing esp at night when the Royal Palace is all lit up. Would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

We had been offered an upgrade at a reasonable price to the family room and it was well worth the money. The view from the room would be hard to beat. The hotel itself is a little past its prime but the location, views and fantastic service make up for it and some.
