Very courteous and helpful staff on reception with a good sense of humour. Room was very comfortable and very warm - great, as it was freezing outside! Breakfast gave a choice of cold meats, cheese, tomatoes, olives, etc, cereals, fruits, cakes(!) and cooked bacon, sausages, mushrooms, hash browns, scrambled and fried eggs. Toast and jam/marmalade was also available. Drinks - tea/coffee, orange juice, pineapple juice, and water. Restaurant was very clean and tidy with excellent service. Our room was superb and very clean and well-appointed but there were no tea/coffee-making facilities. Bed was very comfortable with spotless linen. Bathroom was very clean with plenty of towels and complimentary shampoo and shower gel. We tipped the maid 400HUF each day (£1.15 approx), which seemed to be the going rate. The fascinating, and very large, market hall was only 100-200 metres away and is a must-see. The nearest tram stop (no.2 line) which travels along the course of the Danube, has a stop by the bridge (under the road about two hundred metres away) and is ideal to get nearer to attractions if the weather is not good. There are bars nearby along with some very good restaurants. We only spent three nights there in Budapest but we shall return and will not hesitate to stay at this hotel again. Highly recommended - thanks for a fabulous stay.

Great location, and recommended. Very friendly staff. Handy for the Danube...100 metres. The feel of a traditional Hungarian Hotel...Good breakfast but no other meals served. Eat and drink elsewhere. Ask for an extra pillow though!

The bed was ok, the bathroom ok and they served a poor but ok breakfast, all at a very good price. The TV did not work very well and received few channels, butt the location and the feeling of saftey was good.

Room Tip: cheap and decent

Great old hotel with friendly helpful staff. It has a small restaurant on the 1st floor and a small spa with a lap pool on the second floor. Rooms are small or medium size with slightly old fashioned decor. Our bathroom had a jacuzzi bath and the room had a good television for weather forecasts. This is second time we have stayed at this hotel, and it was just as good or better than the first time.

This hotel is close to the lower end of Vaci Utca, the main pedestrianised street of Pest. It is close to the no. 2 tram that runs up the east side of the Danube to the Parliament and the 47/49 trams that run along the inner ring road of Pest over the bridge to Buda. The central market is a minute away. This is a fantastic location. There's a good Thai restaurant across the road, and a great jazz club five minutes walk away which has live bands several times a week and serves great inexpensive food (Opus jazz club). It is also 4 tram stops away from MUPA, the arts centre built in 2005 which has a theatre, concert hall and Ludwig art gallery - well worth a visit. We saw Recirquel Circus there doing 2 different shows, one in the theatre, one in a tent (fantastic) and Pecs Ballet (very good).
