NOTE: DUE TO THE LACK OF AN OPTION TO RATE THIS RESTAURANT AS "GOOD", I CHOOSE AVERAGE. BUT I WOULD PERSONALLY RATE IT "GOOD". NEITHER "AVERAGE" NOR "VERY GOOD"

We wanted to invite some of our business associates for dinner & drinks one of the days last week. We were recommended by our hotel that Veritas is a nice place to sit down, have a drink and have dinner as well. Having being recommended by the staff of a 5 star hotel we did not bother to do some checks. We straight away headed towards the restaurant after having made a reservation from the hotel we stayed.

It isn't very difficult to locate this wine bar once you have a navigation app on your smartphone. We arrived a few minutes early but we were promptly taken to our table for 7.

We were handed over the menu card which looks very unique. The good thing about the menu card is that it has a wide range and variety of wines from Hungary and rest of Europe. But the disappointing thing is that the food options are very very very limited. It has only a handful of starters and the same number of main course and other food items. This can be a disappointing aspect for someone who heads there totally to eat and not drink much. The same thing happened to couple of us who don't drink. We had no choice but to have a few drinks and order some cold cuts and cheese as starters. The people who didn't drink settled down with water or cola. After we finished our drinks we headed to another restaurant that served plenty of food.

The variety of wine offered by this restaurant is worth mentioning. We tried 3 differen brands of wine, all of them having been made and bottled in Hungary. I must say that the 3 different varieties which we tried were all good.

Lastly the service of the staff is worth mentioning. They were happy to serve us and also make some suggestions which we did appreciate a lot.

Overall as I stated at the beginning of my review, that there should have been an option called "Good". I would have definitely selected that. But I will settle in for "Average" and this only because of the choice they offer on the food. A few more options would definitely not hurt.

A very relaxing place for a quiet drink and a bite. The young lady who served us was very impressive in terms of service delivery and knowledge of wine and food. Her language skills were equally impressive. A delightful place to end a busy day. Highly recommended.

We found this place quite by chance but it is a Diamond. Excellent service. Helpful diligent staff ask what kind of wine you like offer alternatives and endeavour to make sure all your requests are catered for. It became our first and last drop in. good way to start the evening and great way to finish. Recommended to all friends and family

Our new friends from our cruise recommended this find as they had already eaten there twice. Would describe the atmosphere as open - airy - modern. Kind of cool to see electric trolley type buses fly down the street every so often. We went with the recommended breaded/fried pork and it was great. Came with potato salad - which I could have easily eaten a double portion of. As we are not wine experts we left that up to the waitress and were not disappointed! Did notice that the couple next to us were so impressed with the wine that they went next door to the Veritas retail store to purchase some wine. We took a cab there from the Chain Bridge but decided to walk back after dinner. Nice early evening walk in a cool city!
