We stayed at the Lion's Garden Hotel in Budapest for 2 nights as part of a Newmarket Holidays tour. The bedroom (602) was on the top floor and was fairly small but had a very comfortable bed, fridge, free safe, and a nice bathroom. It was a very bright room with nice fittings. We also had a balcony overlooking the Budapest skyline. The hotel is situated in a side street overlooking a church. The breakfast was quite good with a very reasonable selection. Evening meals in the restaurant were excellent with good well cooked food. The staff were very pleasant and efficient. The hotel has a nice swimming pool. This hotel is quite a distance from the city centre although can be accessed by public transport or taxi. Overall, a very good hotel. We had a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: A room on the 6th floor with a nice balcony

1970s style hotel ... ok if you're into retro! ... too far out of city centre to walk in and nowhere near by if you want to have dinner other than in the hotel ... restaurant food is only average and expensive ... had to send my meal back as was cold ... as it came back in 2 mins assume it was put in microwave. .. July, so hot but aircon not working ... told to leave card key in room slot when leaving the room ! ...but how do you get back in ? .. guy on reception not at all helpful. .. breakfast was so so ... nothing special ... 4☆? ... no ... would only get 2☆ in other countries.
Have mentioned this to HAYMARKET tour company.

we stayed two nights in this modern, spacious hotel, in large comfortable room, lovely bathroom....excellent food in the restaurant with very efficient service...colleagues on the same trip used the pool which they said was superb, especially after the 90degree heat outside,,,,

Room Tip: seek a room on a high floor, on the back of the hotel

Did not enjoy my 4 night stay, rude staff, bedroom hardly cleaned, TV was broken, couchbed as hard as a floor, this hotel would be ok for age 70+
Also the towels are like bedsheets
The drinks at the bar are ok

Wifi coverage questionable, noisy lobby, especially when tour groups come in. sink sprays your pants, mold in bathtub, could clean bathroom better, no ice or ice machines on premises, no pots of coffee on the table. But you can make yourself two shots of espresso to jump-start your morning. Closet door wouldn't close. The shower leaks. You've gotta use public transit. The air conditioner never cooled the room. And then there's the internet. None of these problems is earth shattering, but put together, They're a pain. The staff was helpful and accurate, the location was a little bit out of the way. If Lions Garden intends to be an answer to traveling groups, then maybe it's acceptable. They'll have to figure out how to load and unload busses without blocking street traffic But for any moderately discerning traveler, Lions Garden Hotel may not be an appropriate choice.
