Owner description: On the Old Town side of Charles Bridge, this Gothic tower built in 1373 is flanked by sculptures of St Vitus and Charles IV. Open to the public,it offers excellent views of the Old Town and the Vltava River to visitors who climb the narrow staircase. The tower once displayed the heads of twelve Protestant leaders executed in 1621, and was also the site of the final conflict of the Thirty Years War (1618-1648).

You need to be able to climb the stairs but if you can, the views are fantastic. We visited in the evening and it was quieter than earlier in the day.

The bridge itself is amazing and the little John Lennon bar and the Kafka museum on the Prague Castle side is awesome

The Old Town Bridge Tower on the Charles Bridge is probably one of the most iconic structures in Prague, and if you visit this town, I am sure you will visit the Charles Bridge at some stage. The tower is quite an architectural masterpiece, and stands at the beginning (or end) of a well decorated bridge, full of statues and history.
Tip: if you go early in the morning, around sunrise, there are very few people, great photo opportunities without the huge crowds that gather later in the day - plus the sunrise over the town and river is wonderful.

Amazing that these towers have stood for so long. Really hard to photograph on your own since there are so many visitors but still they represent all the Prague is from their beauty and age.

The place is full of tourists and visitors. The architecture is amazingly beautiful and you get to see a phenomenal view of the old town and the riverside. The place is really lively. You get to see the majestic Charles bridge after crossing the tower. There are shopping and eating places nearby and the souvenirs can be purchased from the old town markets as well. You must not miss visiting this place if you ever happen to be in this beautiful city!
