On Monday, Sept 9th, our party of four set out on a once in a lifetime trip to Pompei. We started from Rome with an accomplished guide named Adrianna. When we reached Naples we were joined by a guide named, Guido. Guido attempted to be entertaining rather than sharing historical facts or anecdotes. He went on about smiles and led songs, which not everybody enjoyed. When we arrived in Pompei, Guido’s weak English failed him. He repeatedly instructed the group to gather with “water-passport”. He repeated this several times. Rather than interrupt, my husband politely waited for a pause to ask what time we should meet again at the gate. At that point Guido became agitated and said This is what I worry about! You are not listening”. After the group talked among ourselves, we decided he meant “quarter past four”. The first lesson any teacher should learn is, if asked the same question twice, rephrase the answer, don’t just say it louder., He then set off looking over his shoulder muttering about the last people. One of our party has mobility issues. He then selected the steepest beginning to the tour and made no acknowledgement that some could not keep up. Needless to say we explored independently.

Avoid this hop on and off in Rome.
No air conditioning, earplug jacks did not work in most seats, sat for long periods of time at each stop for no apparent reason. We finally got off and walked.

To whom this may concern,

Green line tours has been a catastrophic experience since we arrived in Rome . We booked 2 tours totaling over 200USD per person giving this tour company a total of over 800 USD between our group. The day we arrived we made the mistake of booking a site seeing tour while still being at the airport . I called green line tours to see if they would accommodate ( it’s okay if they couldn’t ) but the operator hung up the phone on me and said I should have called yesterday. I than called back and tried to explain to her it was an accident and I wasn’t looking for sympathy - I was simply inquiring . Whether the visitor is wrong they should not be treated with utter disrespect and disregard. When I spoke to the operator she was extremely rude and abrasive. Later on that evening I called green line tours to ensure our pickup time for our Capri trip and the same operator picked up the phone giving attitude. I told the operator that I was only trying to confirm the time so that we wouldn’t have an incident . In my attempt to just simply gather information I was rudely rushed off the phone and almost had to beg for information .

The next day when the driver arrived at our hotel at 6:39 am and NOT 7 am as told on the phone we were rushed to another site in which we made a bus transfer. The tour guide on the bus was clearly “ in way over her head “ . The bus was almost was full to capacity and there were individuals holding seats for their friends and family they knew were running late , causing the on time individuals to have to struggle for seating . Once we found seating a passenger approached my travel partner and demanded her get out of her seat to accommodate his wife and children . My friend refused to get out of her seat to accommodate him because it was simply ridiculous that this man thought he had the given right to demand someone out of their seat in which they paid 177 USD for . The passenger began to become angry and disgruntled , demanded that he had the right to tell her to leave her seat. He than approached the tour guide asking her to tell my travel partner to get out of her seat. Instead of the travel guide telling him they had a over capacity bus and couldn’t make such accommodations, she asked my travel partner to get out of her seat. Multiple partners started to intervene asking why she was being treated in that manner. The travel guide than tried to correct her actions by stating “ she can get up if she wanted too”. This was clearly disrespectful and no apology was giving.

Once we got off the bus the travel guide gave everyone stickers for Grotto stating it was apart of the excursion which was unbeknownst to me. Once she realized she was giving the incorrect information she started running frantically trying to recover all the stickers she gave out. Now all the passengers were confused at the lack of skill and preparation this tour line .

Once we arrived on the ferry to take us to Capri we had no instructions of what was next etc . The new tour guide now arrived and immediately started complaining that he had to repeat his self over 10 times giving directions (as if that wasn’t his sole responsibility for the day). He was complaining how he was loosing people etc. Just a utter chaotic mess .

Once we arrived in Capri we were shocked that everything listed and advertised seemed to be absent. There was was no beaches we had access to pretty much NOTHING and we only had 1 hour of free time . This was simply not what we paid for and the treatment we received while being on this excursion was just simply too much for one person to bare . My group of four had a horrible time and we would like to reimburse . If the refund is not giving we will contact our banks as this was truly a scam and the customer service was simply disgusting.

Thank you for your time ,

Renée Saunders

The guys selling these tickets are super pushy and that's across all of the main bus companies offering hop on hop off services.
These buses are very worn and the tops are hardly ever put down on them so if you want a bit of sun you would be disappointed.
The stops aren't where you would want them either I don't think. The only one near the landmark is the Coliseum.
Generally you spend most of your time in traffic or at a light or most frustrating sitting at one of the stops not moving for ages.
Every 15 minutes is a bit of a joke as we weren't allowed on the blue line bus as we had a red ticket. That's mad. Its not explained when purchasing.

Plans for a day discovering Rome went up in smoke when we found that one of the main Metro lines was not operating. Walking to the Spanish steps was too far for us so we saw this Hop On Hop Off tour and decided to try it. The guys who sell the tickets are very pushy but we did it anyway. They give you headsets so you can listen to their commentary which is fine but the bus itself! Oh my gosh! No air conditioning at all!! The bus was dirty and smelly and just plain awful. On our second trip not only did they not have air conditioning but the windows were closed!! It was like a sauna in there. Just horrible. Do not use this tour.
