Owner description: Sussex Squire Wines is a premium award winning boutique producer in the Clare Valley. Our main focus is producing Shiraz from our Dry Grown Vineyard which we manage with organic principles under vine. I also produce single vineyard wines for varieties which I find Interesting like Malbec, Mataro, Sangiovese and Pinot Grigio. Visit our cellar door to taste our selection of wines in a casual relax environment while chatting to the winemaker and owners Mark and Skye. We have a toy box and colouring in for the kids and they can "pat the sheep" (if available) A more formal tasting experience can be organised with a structured tasting and a short tour of the vineyard. Please call to arrange. Our award winning wines to try; Sussex Squire Thomas Block Shiraz - Gold Medal (Aust Small Winemakers) Sussex Squire Samuel Block Cabernet Sauvignon - Gold & 2 Trophies Sussex Squire The Partnership Shiraz Mataro - 91Pts - The Wine Front JRS The Sussex Squire Barrel Selected Shiraz - 94pt

Mark & Skye, the owners, are very welcoming (as are their small sons and two dogs, not to mention the sheep who do most of the weed control!). Their wines are beautiful and both Skye and Mark are very knowledgable, helpful and generous with their time when visiting their cellar door. Highly recommended, and easy to find when driving along the Spring Gully Loop from the Clare Information centre.

Well worth visiting this family owned boutique winery. Wine maker is extremely knowledgable and passionate about his wines and talked us through our tasting. Thoroughly enjoyed the wines.

We visited Sussex Squire with a group of 6 (with be consumed tours) and were greeted by the enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly winemaker Mark. We tried each of the wines and were impressed with the flavours and supporting dialogue provided by Mark. Recent awards are testimony to this boutique winery’s quality. Highly recommend visiting!

We visited mark at Sussex squire for the first time yesterday and were greeted by the enthusiastic owner mark. We worked our way through the tasting list and found several beautiful wines that we purchased. We will be back again and recommend you put this your list of places to visit. Thank you mark.

Mark has great knowledge of his terroir (soil, water and climate) to get the best from his dry grown vines. They had run out of the Pinot Grigio, but we were able to sample and purchase from the Seven Hills Pub (yum). Just shared a bottle of the Mataro with the Boss and it slips down so smoothly. Make sure you get in early before SS sells out
