It’s a very manageable swim to the waterfall especially if you take a pool noodle with you.
The water temperature was “refreshing“ when you first get in but once you start swimming it’s very comfortable.
It’s quite exhilarating sitting under the waterfall.

We had a great time at Edith Falls in Nitmiluk NP. Just 20 km off the Stuart Highway, 40 km north of Darwin. It was very popular when we visited with people staying at the camping ground as well as day trippers. The water is clear and we found it cold - refreshing !! Kids had a ball watching the fish in the water. The kiosk is great and facilities are clean. Well worth a visit I.

We did the walk up to the upper pools and was blown away. The kids loved it and the walk was easy. The upper pools are way better then the main plunge pool at the bottom. Be prepared though the water is quite cool especially for us QLDers.

A very nice place to relax and have a swim or a walk to the upper pools. There are BBQ's at the bottom pool, lots of shady trees and a green lawn, toilets are clean and well maintained

We went to the Nitmiluk National Park – Edith falls. The falls are nice even though relatively small but the large waterhole is great for swimming. Access to the pool is easy as steps are present .

There is good parking and a kiosk.

We then did the 12 km return Sweetwater pool walk. This is a moderate level walk which takes about 3 to 5 hours. It goes through varying flora and along the waterway. There are several places where there are great swimming holes. We did our swim at the top swimming hole which is large and deep and great fun. It is particularly refreshing "halfway" through your walk.

The return walk is somewhat shorter than the outward journey and follows your original path initially but then takes another part of a loop back to the Edith falls.

You will not be disappointed with this hike.
