A group of us visiting Oamaru stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Cafe was busy and were short staffed. Coffee was very good, and while not all in my group would agree, I thought the staff handled the situation well. Child friendly too. And nice scone.

Consistently very good coffee and breakfast. Only cafe in Oamaru that is worth a visit. All others bland.

What an absolute disappointment! We specifically searched for a family friendly cafe and based on reviews chose this place. We ordered quickly and then waited a full hour for a cold breakfast. Upon asking for some sugar, it felt as if we’d asked for a limb. Perhaps place sugar on the tables if staff don’t want to interact with customers. Poached eggs were over cooked, not to mention cold. My brother in law’s breakfast was also cold and the most average cooked breakfast he’s ever had. Maybe this was a bad day, but I’d recommend some good customer service training for staff here, otherwise reviews of this kind will be common. Definitely won’t return.

Dear Melissa,
Im so sorry to hear about your bad experience. Sadly one of hour chefs had to go home sick and by the time the other person came things got very delayed. We sincerely apologise for the wait and for your bad experience. This wasn't up to our standards and definitely it was extremely busy for a Monday morning. Our girls didnt feel they gave you a bad customer experience ( apart from the 35min food waiting plus the cold plates... ) the sugar bowls are in the tables and to my understanding you asked the barista in the coffee machine for the sugar when she was very busy and it was very noisy. They are very apologetic about the matter but probably the whole situation of waiting for the food, etc made things even worse. Im sorry again for the issue, Please contact me on 03 4345696 and I will make sure you get your refund.
Regards,

Yanina Tacchini
