Grand Chancellor is located in Central Launceston and offers comfortable rooms with an excellent restaurant .. Parking vouchers are given on arrival and are valid until 12.00md on the day of your departure.. The hotel is in close proximity to City Park ( a must visit) that has an enclosure with live Macaques & working Radio station - with a vast collection of vintage Australian made radios. Albert Hall -architectural interest.. across the road is the Tasmanian Automobile Museum that has a varied collection of vintage cars and motorcycles - all are on loan from private owners.. Walk across the bridge and you will find the Tasmanian University -Launceston Campus and the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Galley - a great use for the Old Railway Workshops... Shopping centre is also within walking distance...

A beautiful hotel with excellent staff. Could not fault any of it. Loads of character and very well maintained. Our room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The food was also of a very high standard and the staff were welcoming.

Good size rooms and very comfortable for the price. Clean and spacious with good amenities.Close to the CBD and restaurants. Walking distance to most Launceston land marks. Limited parking however which can cause issues.

Hotel was centrally located and easy to find. Close to cbd and restaurants and main amenities. Rooms were clean and tidy and bed was very comfortable. May be better served to remove bath and have a separate walk-in shower but otherwise faultless.

This is my second stay here, and I do like this place. The staff are helpful, the hotel is quiet, the beds are very comfortable, and the rooms are very clean.

First oddity: Why do hotels consistently not place power points where they might be convenient to the user, instead of where it meets the needs of the hotel (ie, plug-in lamps etc). I've stayed at many many hotels/motels/guest-houses throughout Australia while travelling for business, and this is a consistent issue throughout that industry. My needs are to be able to plug in items at the bedside table and the desk, to either use a laptop or prep for the following day's work, yet this is virtually impossible without the use of power-boards etc. This hotel is no exception to this issue, but thankfully did provide a power-board on request.

Next oddity: the aircon is a portable mini-arcon tucked into the corner of the room. There are large vents into the room, but not sure what their purpose is.

All that said, I would definitely stay here again. Not sure of the price, as it was a corporate booking.

Room Tip: It's pleasing to know that the roadside-rooms are quiet.
