The Rees Hotel exceeds our expectations in every way. We stay in a two-bedroom apartment with lake view. The apartment is spacious, nicely decorated and very cosy. It is so comfortable that it makes us feel like home. The view from the apartment is stunning. We enjoy relaxing at the balcony while admiring the beauty of the lake and the mountains. Though it is very cold outside, the apartment is warm and comfortable with floor heating system and a modern little fire place.

The kitchen is well-equipped. The beds are comfortable. We love the apartment so much we do not want to leave! On top of that, all the staff are friendly and helpful. We would definitely love to come back.

We stayed at The Rees because our flight was cancelled and it was the only room left in town. The 3 bedroom executive apartment we stayed in had just been renovated and was immaculate. It was a pity we checked in at 10:00 pm and checked at at 8:00
am because we didn't really get a chance to enjoy the facilities. The staff were very excellent and there are inter complex transfers from reception to the waterside apartments. A complimentary bottle of Pinot Noir was excellent, and needed after a long day at the airport. A tablet was provided as to use for room service and other facilities.

The family (wife, two sons and I) stayed at The Rees Hotel during the last week of April 2018. We stayed in a two bedroom aprtment with a spectacular view of the lake and the mountains in the background. The apartment was luxurious with two bedrooms, a sitting room and a small kitchenette. It had a fireplace and an outdoor balcony with chairs to soak the scenry outside.

The apartment came completely equipped with dishwasher and kitchen range. It even had a washer and dryer so you could wash clothes if needed. This would bring down the number of clothes to be carried on the trip. The staff were extremely helpful (we had a problem with ourt rental car) and service was outsatnding.

All-in-all, I would recommend The Rees for stay at Queenstown.

A good location just outside of busy Queenstown. Our room was perfectly comfortable with a view of the lake (slightly spoilt by some scruffy buildings just outside our balcony). Also our room was on car park level which was a bit odd as we had to walk through the car park to get back into the hotel for breakfast etc.

The reception staff were very helpful and the shuttle service excellent. The walk along the lake was a pleasant alternative but do be aware that it is not lit up at night.

We found some of the staff at breakfast service a little surly. One young man actually pushed my husband out of the way at the breakfast counter so he could access the cupboards below. However the food cooked to order was excellent.

The Rees is properly described as a Hotel and Apartments - but the implications are not immeasurably obvious. It is a modern steel, concrete and glass complex nestled into a steep hillside that you could imagine finding in a Teutonic or Scandinavian country. What you would not find is the convoluted design that requires you to traverse a garage and multiple elevators to get to your room. Or the lack of a real lobby. The restaurant, though excellent, is equally tiny. The gym is only adequate to check the box that there is one. The rooms are comfortable and adequately furnished. But there are no king beds - only twin beds joined together. And perhaps most challenging to the notion of luxury is the fact that at some NZD $ 500 per night (which is full price) you could be relegated to a handicapped room on the bottom floor without advance warning. It took us three room changes to get to a decent room - though still could not avoid the garage to get there. The impression it leaves behind was well aligned with the comment made by one of the staff that most visitors only come once and are not repeat visitors.
