The hotel is just off the Octagon, thus as central as it gets.
Very helpful staff, solidly functional rooms.
Reasonably priced rooms service meals - small but tasty selection.
A good choice for anyone who wishes to stay in the city centre.

Room Tip: Good views from rooms facing the East in the upper floors

First time I’ve stayed in a scenic circle for a long time. They’re usually in older buildings and they haven’t succumbed to the modern trend of key cards and sterile rooms.

First up - beds are amazing, they have the best mattress topper I’ve found anywhere aside from much more expensive hotels. Pillows are great, big, yet soft.

The rooms are getting on, but that’s part of the old school charm. They’re enormous and the in room heating is both quiet and efficient. The mini bar isn’t what you’d expect if you travel a lot, but that’s not always a bad thing.

The hotel staff are friendly enough, in fact there’s not much they won’t do for you, but the place lacks atmosphere and you do find yourself favouring your room, over the bar, when your a lone traveller. Having said that it’s very very well priced and pretty central and they have onsite valet parking.

The menu is set to please everyone, the dishes are there to keep you full and satisfied, not make your inner Masterchef dance with joy. If you want extra chilli, you need to ask.

If your in Dunedin for a night and need a warm comfy spot - you could do worse than stop here.

Stayed for just over a week here. Nice hotel with great staff who are very accommodating. Good choice for breakfast. Rooms are quite large and clean.
The hotel is well situated for the town. The railway station is in easy walking distance

The room was large, clean and tidy. Bed was lovely and comfy and toasty warm on a very cold day. I didn’t get the name of the server at breakfast but she was smiley, polite and the right amount of helpful without being intrusive. I had the vegetarian breakfast; it was yummy & huge

Car parking now charged for at $16 per night. This wasn’t clear on their advertising. Room ok, but bathroom/toilet rather cramped. No extraction fan here either which is not acceptable. No room facilities for breakfast but coffee etc supplied. Good breakfast available in hotel restaurant.
