As an Accor Plus member I am usually really happy with the hotels I stay in under the brand and for the most part this hotel was good. They were good enough to allow late checkout, a feature with my Silver membership but not a given and the room was comfortable and the food in the restaurent nice however the house keeping very slack with the one day we did require the room to be made up the bed looked like it had been made by a 5 year old. Pretty much just hawled up with wrinkled sheets underneath. The worst thing about the housekeeping was that my husband who has been keeping me awake with his snoring for monthes had finally managed to get some medication to stop the snoring prior to our trip and had left it on the table in the room in preparation for that night and the person who cleaned the room took it upon themselves to do away with it. We did not realise until we went to bed that night. Needless to say yet another sleepless night for me on what was suppose to be a lovely relaxing weekend visiting our daughter at uni. Because of this we ended up checking out early to go and find a chemist to get some more medication because the chemists would be all closed when our flight landed in Wellington. Upon checkout I mentioned this to the receptionist who apologised if course and said she would let housekeeling know. I kind if expected a little more. We had been inconvenienced, out if pocket for the cost of the medication, only $20 but still not the point. My lack of sleep and subsequent mood and having to check out early to go and purchase some more medication. I just dont feel they showed enough care on this particular occassion so I really don't think I will stay here again which is a shame because our daughter has another 4 years at Otago Uni so we will be visiting often and this is the only hotel under the brand available in Dunedin.

Dear Kiwichix,

We were disappointed to read you review of our property. We certainly appreciate the issues you have explained but are unable with the information contained here in the review to positively identify your booking to be able to conduct a more specific investigation. That being said, our General Manager has discussed the broader issue of the differences between guest rubbish and items merely left by guests for future use with our housekeeping team as to ensure no other guest is inconvenienced in this way. He has asked me to pass on his sincere apologies for this apparent mistake by our team. We are sorry to hear that you will not be staying with us in the future but do thank you for your previous use of our property.

We have just hosted a family reunion for 60 people at the Mercure Dunedin Leisure Lodge, using the McGavin room, and it was absolutely perfect. The standout was the service. From original enquiry through all the final details, to the evening itself, the staff were friendly, super-accommodating - nothing was a problem! Especial thanks to Monique for being a star to work with as we organised the event, and Luke for ensuring everything ran perfectly on the night. Many of us stayed over the weekend - the rooms were very clean and warm, and it was ideal to have so much accommodation available on site for everyone coming from out of town.

Nice place, the staff is very helpful and nice.
The room was really nice with confortable beds.
Good restaurant but I prefer less elaborated food.
The parking was a plus.
It isn't located in downtown but the city is not so big so it's easy to get around.

Hello Ana S,

So glad you enjoyed Dunedin and your stay with us. Indeed, town is not huge but it certainly has something for everybody as is very easy to navigate. Have a great day.

Great place. Lovely surrounding and neat helpful staff , that includes your front line cleaners . Love the ground floor with garden's. Good food too. We had lovely breakfasts and main evening meals. The building is having a revamp, looking good.

You need a car or taxi to get to CBD. There a few shops and restaurants within walking distance but the best variety of eating places are all in town. The big plus is you are within walking distance of the Botanical Gardens which is a lovely way to spend a morning or afternoon

Good Morning Sandstar2018 from another Dunner Stunner this morning. Thank you for your review, it is much appreciated. Indeed you can grab a cab or an uber, or even catch a bus down George Street. For perspective regarding our location the walk to Meridian Mall is a flat 1800 metres in total from the hotel and takes less than 25minutes, according to Google Maps. If you do take the walk I'd recommend stopping in at Governor's Café opposite Know Church and grab a lovely coffee ! Cheers
