We stayed in a room for 3 people. Firs thing that I did not like is that they close their kitchen at 9 pm. We arrived after 9 that is why we even were not able to warm our dinner, we tried to eat sandwiches in a common room but there were no lights in it. There are very thin walls between rooms and there is a gap in the walls at the top, so if you neighbor in the nex room does not sleep you will hear everything and light will enter you room through the gap.

The building is old and really needs an restoration.
The common areas are dirty with paint peeling of the walls.
Their postcards offer a great view but there is no view.
The only positive thing is the personnel .

Room Tip: choose a different hotel

The staff here are lovely. Facilities are great- kettle for tea and coffee in the rooms. Clean throughout and a gorgeous sun-soaked roof terrace- we did yoga on there, probably the first people ever?! Ideally located for the bus station and city centre. The staff are clearly working hard to update the place but it does, for now, remain dated. We found this charming rather than a problem!

We stayed in a Queen room w ensuite , really good value @ $100 $NZ , the hotel is early 1900's and survived the quakes !Old but very clean and great for CBD accommodation , Good service & comfy bed ! Its a traditional , great priced inner city pub ! They had a band on the Saturday & karaoke on the Friday. GREAT LOCATION , is on the main street of Christchurch , - recommend for low price / original pub style hotel accommodation - we will stay there again

Room Tip: All the queen rooms w ensuites are great
