It was so sad to see the cathedral - after my last visit pre earthquakes it is a sad testament to the ferocity of the earthquakes . I cannot wait to see it back in one piece again . The best description of the cathedral I heard was the biggest pidgeon loft in the world :(

Thank Julie H

So sad to see this cathedral in the state it is in after the earthquakes of 2010. The area around it is cordoned off for safety.

This icon of Christchurch represents the ongoing struggle between those who want to rebuild the city as it was, and those who want to start afresh. As the debate continues, the building is slowly falling into ruin, and is now fenced on all sides and inhabitable only by pigeons.

A building that is falling apart, and quite an eyesore, however beautiful because of the deeper story it tells now. Would be amazing if a donation box was set up for visitors to support its restoration

This cathedral was severely damaged by the earthquake. It has a lot of history, and was a icon of the city. It was very sad to see the destruction.
