Sometimes this place is great and sometimes it’s, well, just disappointing. This was my 4th or 5th stay here and to their credit they upgraded my room. I stayed on a Wednesday and Thursday night.
The challenge was the upgrade was to a room with zero sound proofing that faced in to the car park. Turns out that it’s quite a busy area all night long, and I achieved around 5 hours sleep over two nights. If this happens again I’d rather have a normal room. Don’t get me wrong the rooms are nice enough and I’ve never had an issue before but these ground floor ones are like sleeping outside.
In ordering room service on the Wednesday night, they took my order and after an hour delivered something completely different. What I got wasn’t even in the menu. When I questioned it, they said they had changed the menu, and to be honest it would be another hour to replace it. “No one really seemed to care.....”. When I raised it at the front desk, they said - yes that’s right, up to four items had been changed - not one person in the restaurant mentioned anything when I ordered. They did give me 50% off the main, however it was frustrating that there was no communication. I would have ordered something else had I known.
Lastly the smoke detectors had shower caps over them, not the hotels doing I am sure, but not a great thing for me, should there have been a fire.
In summary, don’t stay on the ground floor, ask if the room service Menu is correct, how long the wait will be, and be prepared to wait, wait and wait a little longer for your meal.
