Very happy with this Motel. If you can get room 18, do so, ask for It!! You will not be disappointed with this room, beds everywhere, two bedrooms, kitchenette, nice bathroom, heaps of room to move. Room 18 would be great for a long stay.

This accommodation has large rooms, comfortable beds and good facilities. There is quite a lot of noise due to it being close to the highway and a bar. There are a few eateries around and it is about a 20 minute walk to the city centre. Overall it is a nice place to stay if you are passing through Christchurch.

I stayed in the 2 bed studio for 2 nights, it was great good rooms, comfortable beds, lovely bathroom and good sized kitchen. We asked to stay longer and they gave us a one bed with a bed in lounge this was fine a bit small for 4 of us but clena and tidy. A good pool for a swim and hot tub was nice. Close to walk to see the CBD,

Room tip: We had the room over looking the pool...fab and quiet.

I was a little hesitant to stay here after reading some of the comments but took the plunge and so pleased I did.

I stayed here from the 3rd - 5th December so it was more of a place to rest my head each night and for that purpose it was excellent.

Positives:
The room [22] was one of the largest I had stayed in on this trip, bathroom [with spa bath] was HUGE! Positioned right beside the pool [occasionally used but not at all disturbing] plenty of sun streams into the unit.
Small bottle of milk provided at check in, plenty of maps and attraction guides at the reception.
Bed and pillows soooo comfortable, linen was fresh, clean and spotless, towels perfect for snuggling up in after a long well needed soak in the spa bath.
Kitchen well stocked with the essentials, great little hob was quick to come to life and plenty of bench space for prep work.
Great experiences with all staff, from a warm friendly check in to the lovely cleaning staff who were often out and about the lady who cleaned the pool was quick to smile and ask if I need anything.
Parking right outside the door of the unit was and as I was on ground level this was extremely handy with getting luggage inside.
Location of the motel, for me I found central [to everything on my must do list] and it was a nice walking distance into the city centre, but plenty of public transport stops were along the way.

In need of a little love:
Shower room [separate from toilet, which is also separate from spa bath] needs a little upgrading of paint and silicon but it was cleaned thoroughly each day so is was really just an aesthetic issue, the sink was new so doesn't quite fit as expected, shower door leaks like a sieve but only if you have the shower head pointing in a particular direction. One thing I did like and appreciate is that the shower gel and shampoo / conditioner was in dispensers on the wall... no chasing tiny bars of the soap around the floor ;)

I found Southern Comfort great value for money [$110 per night] and would definately stay here again, when recommending to a friend I was remind them that it is on the lower price scale so appreciation of a 70s style of decor could be a requirement as it the motel slowly makes it way through the upgrades which are a great addition and when complete, of a good standard.

Room tip: Room 22, well back from the road, beside the pool, lots of space

Stayed in mid December in a 2 bedroomed apartment with 2 children. Cost $180 per night for the 4 of us. Rooms were very good sized and clean, but it was pretty noisy even though it is at the back of the property. Got woken by the sirens lots. Boys had a swim and the pool was freezing.
I would go back but would be trying for a cheaper price
