Stayed in a 2 room unit which was roomy, comfortable and quiet. Love the A/C and full sky tv. Always enjoy dinner and a drink in Jimmy’s Restaurant. Our go-to hotel when in Christchurch. Highly recommended.

Glad you enjoyed dinner and drinks at the Restaurant and Bar. We look forward to welcoming back with us soon and thank you for choosing to recommend us to others.

Booked 2 rooms but didn't realise that they were in the old block that had not been renovated. Originally designed to mimic Elizabethan architecture but now looking very tired and in need of serious upgrade. Access is entirely from outside with carparking in front of the doors however forget about getting a park as it rapidly gets full up by late afternoon. Not sure why unless the other guests all have 2 cars each or neighbours are sneaking in. Anyway we had to park on the side street. Front door has a red stain glass diamond inset which is not totally obscure and you can see through up close - very disturbing! Also you hear everything outside especially if you like to sleep in a bit.
Cupboard doors look like garden sheds which could be part of the old world charm but squeaked badly and catches didnt work. Carpet was new and clean and the room did have a decent LED TV however the queen size beds were very lumpy and one of our kids did end up insect bites although unsure if the beds were to blame. Bathroom were nicely tiled but relied on old wooden windows for ventilation - really need a fan as the mirror misted up badly. Beware the old fashioned casement window stays which do not lock the windows and do not offer any security. There is a safe in the cupboard though.
Bathroom has the old bath/shower combo which are just dangerous and a Health & Safety concern with no grab rails - an accident waiting to happen!
The location is great though and close to shops, restaurants and local shopping mall. Breakfast was the standard bacon & eggs & cereals but nothing special.
There is almost a museum feel to the lounges with a lot of history on the walls plus a few antique cars in the front.
Conclusion - next time we'll book the renovated rooms.

Room tip: Book the renovated rooms. Avoid this block.

Great location. Very friendly staff. We were in old wing (ie Camelot motel next door must've owned at some point) and altbough renovated, shower pressure appalling. Pool not heated, but it and spa great to use.

We have stayed here many times and this visit was no different. Friendly, helpful staff and yummy food. Rooms are nice and tidy with plenty of room to relax.
Rooms are quiet and away from the road so there is no road noise.
