I stay here for work purposes, when trips to Christchurch are necessary. The amenities are clean, family friendly ( I go alone but have x 4 children, so take notice). cooking facilities are a feature. close to the city. Friendly and helpful staff. Warm and pleasant units.

Room tip: Not sure, booked by employer

We stayed here due to being evacuated for the Port Hill fires. We found the price quite steep for the quality.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment. I don't think the place has been decorated since the 80's. The bedding was pretty poor quality but the beds were quite comfy.

The kitchen - the less said about that the better.

I have no idea why there is a bed when you come in the door into the living space.

The 'heating' dried the place out, and very noisy.

Overall the place was very clean and I guess ok if you are a budget traveller. I'd only recommend to a backpackers/students.

Stayed 3 nights in this motel as we were going on the Tranz Alpine train Christchurch/Greymouth/Christchurch. Motel owners offered to drive us to the train station and pick us up again when we arrived back, just after 6pm. Highly recommend this Motel as everything was very clean and tidy, owners very helpful and obliging - couldn't have asked for better service. No complaints whatsoever :)

Room tip: We stayed in downstairs unit and it was very good, great parking etc.

In short, do not stay here. At a time when we had a relative flown urgently to Christchurch hospital we were unfortunate enough to end up with a room at Raceway Motel. The hospital only pay for one support person and I as the second support person offered to and was happy to pay for myself. The manager of this place is a very very rude man and his passive aggressive behaviour is appalling. Having a home cooked meal while staying away from home is not likely as although they do supply a fully equipped kitchen they do not like you using the ovens and do not have any oven trays to bake with.
Mr Raceway Motel just because the hospital only give you $100 per night it does not give you the right to be rude and abusive to your customers.
Furthermore the place is outdated and not very clean.
