This museum covers all aspects related to New Zealand Maritime history from Maori canoes, to shipping vessels to light houses. A large part of the museum is devoted to their America's Cup winning yacht.

Well worth a visit.

Let the exhibits at the museum bring you back in time, or enjoy the moment with their exhibition or make some art when you are there. Of course, do go sailing on Ted Ashby, their heritage cruise. We enjoyed the sailing as a family.

Good choice for our rainy day in Viaduct harbor. Museum layout and map makes it easy to follow the chronological story of water travel in NZ. Spots along the way are specifically geared to younger visitors with interactive exhibits. Quite a big part of the museum is dedicated to Sir Peter Blake and yachting.

Some interesting exhibits with pretty average labels and information. Could be significantly improved.

$20 to visit - which is pretty steep for what you get.

Definitely not a must do, but an interesting way to spend an hour or two, perhaps on a rainy day.
