Loved the decor except for the mirror wall that I found a bit disconcerting. We told the server we were pushed for time and she brought everything promptly without making us feel rushed. The Wagyu charcoal truffles are so delicious that the crab gyoza had a hard job to top them but were equally fabulous, especially with the runny quail egg yolk.
We shared the deluxe sushi and sashimi box and loved the huge selection of perfectly fresh and expertly prepared fish and seafood.
This was a memorable meal and I hope to go back one day when I have more time to explore the menu.

There was five of us for dinner, wasn't the best seat in the house "Backed into the stairwell but hey".
Drinks were great and flowed steady for the night. The food it, was difficult to choose the set menu or individual so we chose individual; probably not the correct choice:

Entrees were amazing, we are Japanese connoisseurs so we know when it is great, the mains were a total let down. I chose the fish that was a major let down, my wifes was just ok, my daughter so sweet and overwhelming "ribs". We were truly expecting a great dinner especially at $800 but no. May of been a bad night they were having yet at that price i wont be back.

Went to Kisume with old friends last night . Tastings menu was superb, everything was delicately flavoured , beautifully presented . The restaurant ‘s aesthetic is carefully considered . Service was brilliant. The waitress was knowledgeable , approachable , and her timing was responsive and unobtrusive. This is my second visit and so enjoyable . The acoustics are important to me as so many restaurants are unpleasantly raucous so dining at Kisume is delightful, can hear each table guest talking without shouting . Melbourne you are such a classy city with restaurants like Kisume at your doorstep.

Food was great
Service was attentive but not all staff could help with wine selections. Asked for a sommelier twice, none came to help?
Overall a great night though, our group of 8 opted for the set menu which made things a lot easier

We chose to sit at the bar as we love the theatre that most Japanese chefs delight in. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and generous. The sushi a must - order the deluxe - well worth it. Booking also a must as this place is very popular despite its above average prices.
A constructive criticism for the management - a hot towel would be good on arrival as some dishes are expected to be eaten using fingers.
