From the minute we pulled up we knew it was going to be great.... We got there before check in, but we were able to access all the hotels facilities whilst waiting for our room to be made up.... The hotel oozes old world charm, and the service we received was second to none. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Critique restaurant was ok.... It took 15 mins to get menus and 45 minutes to eat... Hubby had to send a raw steak back, but the staff were so amazing they cooked him a brand new meal at no extra charge. We scored an excellent deal with Luxury Escapes with unlimited movies, full buffet breakfast for 4, valet parking, and $20 food and beverage credit for each day.... TOTALLY WORTH IT.
The pools... Let start with those... The pools are amazing.... The freshwater pool with the current was a favourite with my family, and the kids were fascinated with the salt water pool and swimming with fish... We even hired a SeaDoo propeller from the hotel so we could dive deeper and have a closer look. There are a lot of trees around the property so expect leaves and other stuff to be in the pool but its no biggie, the temperature was perfect in both pools... Fish feeding is really a highlight at 9.30 am....
My 10 year old son is autistic and high functioning, and he enjoyed the entire hotel... The kids club loved having him and his older brother for a couple of hours over two days, and they were very understanding of his needs.... The ladies working there are truly caring and amazing... We felt great about leaving them there so they could have some kid time...
We stayed in a junior suite, and the only complaint I would have would be the size of the beds... We had two doubles and clearly two queens would have easily fit.... The bathroom was clean and a good size.... The spa was big and lovely.... The walk in wardrobe was a lovely feature, and the safe provided peace of mind for our valuables...
Chapter and verse is the little bar in the lobby and after the kids were asleep it was no problem to head down and have a nightcap before getting into bed for a big day the next day... I had some of the tastiest scotches whilst visiting... Very laid back and relaxed... It was a fave hangout for us...
The breakfasts.... OMG... This was a highlight of our stay.... I do love a good buffet breakfast and this was all we expected and more... The chef at the omelette station is a genius... Great selection of breakfast foods, spoiled for choice really...
Overall the stay was amazing with kids... its definitely a family hotel but that's because of the amazing pools... Its in within walking distance of the beach and boardwalk, there's heaps to do....
We loved it and have recommended it to friends....
