Found this hotel to be freshly renovated was nice and clean with great amenities at a very affordable price, only issue is that the bed was not that comfy and not enough pillows other than that a great location close to town and airport

Dear camjanmarlia

Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay. Overall the Cairns Queenslander met your expectations which is wonderful! In hindsight extra pillows could have been provided by contacting reception (open 24 hours). We do hope to welcome you again in the future.

Kind regards

The hotel is fine for an economy apartment. The rooms are big and it's nice to have a balcony, The kitchenette is very basic but was good enough for us to prepare salads and breakfasts, which saves a lot of money and time. The downside is, as others have pointed out, that the walls are like paper. We were not bothered but if noise is an issue for you I would steer away from this. We stayed in a refurbed room, so it was all fine. I would have given this place a 4 but the problem was that the cleaning was not up to scratch. We stayed for 10 nights and had to ask the cleaners to vacuum the floor and change the towels. The floor was so filthy that your feet turned black when walking on it! Pay your cleaners and add £5 to the bill! We did not visit the restaurant, there are plenty of nicer places in Cairns and particularly on the coast to eat.

Room tip: Mm, our balcony was not to the main road, so quiet.

Dear Paula S
Thank you for your review; we certainly agree our self-catering rooms are large with their own private balcony & kitchenette. Regarding room cleaning we have taken immediate action to reinforce our daily room tidy standards. We do hope you'll consider returning to Cairns and explore further this wonderful tropical region.

Kind regards

Large sized room for a reasonable price. Room comfortable with facilities from home. Good kitchen facilities. Comfortable beds. Enough parking in hotel carpark or on the street in front of hotel. Close to Cairns Base Hospital if travelling for health care. Nice to have a balcony to sit and eat on and to let in fresh air. Rooms temperature good, used fans but air conditioner also available.

This time I went with my partner and booked a special deal. We had a spacious, clean and comfortable room and our stay lived up to my last experience - friendly and helpful staff but relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is homely and so convenient at the end of a busy day - and the food and service couldn't be bettered. We wouldn't have eaten elsewhere after sampling the fish chowder and fish of the day! We went back for more next night! Love this accommodation and hope to visit again. I forgot to say the sweets are delicious too! we LOVE CAIRNS AND 'THE QUEENSLANDER'! We didn't have a car but easy and not expensive to take taxis to and from airport etc. Taxi drivers were friendly and informative and added to the whole experience with their local knowledge. We visited Art Gallery and Museum and historic hotel with lovely wood panelling close by and then walked up to the Esplanade. Explore - and you will find many treasures.

Room tip: state your preference - a view or quiet location
