“Service friendly, food pretty average”

Well located in Brisbane Square, there were very few diners there when we went early one evening. It was a cold night and the café is fairly open. We both had battered flathead, salad and chips. The flathead was overcooked, the salad dressing was too vinegary but the chips were crunchy and delicious. The service was friendly and welcoming, the costs mid-range but the food was pretty average.

Visited this place for breakfast, ordered poached eggs on toast, which for $13.50 you would expect would include x2 pieces of toast. Alas no, I received 1 hard and burnt piece of sourdough. The eggs were cooked perfectly though, I will give them that. This would also be the first cafe I've ever visited that doesn't have pepper on the table. The service was fine, but I don't think I'll be returning for breakfast anytime soon.

Whilst the cafe has a nice enough outlook and menu, we were very disappointed by the service. We acknowledge it was a very busy day with an event on that morning, but there is no excuse for having to flag a staff member down after ten minutes to have our order taken after being shown to our seat, for our coffees to take 45 minutes, waiting patiently without a word from the staff for 30 minutes for our food to come out and when it did it was luke warm. Half hearted apology when paying the bill. We did not feel like valued customers at all and with so much competition in the F&B industry we expected better. I hope the owner will be more informed and prepared next time there is an event. Otherwise please give your customers the courtesy of informing them of the wait before taking their order, and get the coffees out quickly to tide people over!

We were staying at the Next hotel and met a relative at this cafe on a Sunday morning. Generous serving of avocado on sour dough and tastes great. Tea from a teapot is always a plus too. Friendly staff and i would go back
