My wife and I enjoyed a lunchtime teppanyaki at Sono Japanese Restaurant, Portside Wharf, on Friday 22nd June 2018. It was quite an experience indeed! There were 6 other diners at the teppanyaki station that afternoon. We both opted for Shun from the menu. For drinks we ordered a pot of genmaicha (green tea with roasted puffed rice).
The chef was a delight to watch, as he prepared the main dishes right before our eyes. It was a display of culinary artistry. Each of the dishes was exquisitely presented and scrumptious. For starters, we had prawn and avocado sushi complete with wasabi, pickled ginger and mirin-soya dipping sauce. The dishes that followed were Queensland king prawn, finely sliced Wagyu striploin with asparagus, chicken teriyaki, stir-fried vegetables, special fried rice and miso soup. The dessert was green tea marble ice-cream.
The waitresses were very welcoming and the service was efficient and impeccable. Above all, the food was absolutely fabulous.
