“Great beach for snorkeling, swimming or just laying out! ”

This beach was recommended by the owner of Motorcycle rentals in Waikoloa. They rent everything from snorkels to noodles and umbrellas. Lots of fish and clear water. Look for beach 69 I think it was, after puako and before the parking attendant at Hapuna. If you walk down to the left side, it’s less people and a fun little rope hanging from a tree. Definitely stop by when passing this area!

This is a great little beach with amenities and shade. There seemed to be little houses to rent right on the beach. Very peaceful.

Stayed in Kona and made the day trip to this famous beach. It was worth the trip! Calm waters, white sand beach, and plenty of space to get some sun.

We were at the Fairmont Orchid hotel which is situated right at this beach. Although it is a public beach most of the people there are resort guests from what I can tell. This whole area is just stunning. If you swim beyond the lava rocks to where the turtles come up in front of the Fairmont you will see a coral reef and many tropical fish. And like us you will be able to swim with the green turtles (honu), there are many in this area. This is an amazing place to snorkel.

Puako is a small village north of Waikoloa which has typical Hawaiian houses and beautiful beaches. It is charming! At the end of the road is a beach which has ample shade and sun for the sun worshippers. It is quite rocky with black lava and coarse sand but very picturesque. There are some cottages for rent. There are turtles and whales. The Puako residents hope that you will respect and appreciate the wildlife. So that we can all enjoy the scenery, please use litter containers. Keep Hawaii beautiful!
