Our ONLY and highly appreciated menu is our RIJSTTAFEL (rice table), with about 10 different Javanese dishes. The name rijsttafel is Dutch, the food is totally Indonesian ;-) - Price: Rp 150.000/pax all in

When I booked this place for our family new year's eve dinner, i thought it would just be another dinner: we eat and go home quickly to avoid end of year traffic. And i chose theSawah just randomly at tripadvisor.
The place is rather secluded, in-the-middle-of-nowhere kinda feeling. It gives you a homey feeling, greeted by two dogs, some chickens, and beautiful nature. We were the only guest there, and were informed that they only accept bookings. No drop ins because they only cook if you book. Everything is freshly cooked.
The food was indonesian home cooking menu, lots of variety and they all delicious! Rendang is just awesome! We were so relax here that we kept eating and eating and talking and laughing out loud and dancing and eating again for nearly 3 hours. The dinner turned to become a private family moment i didnt expect to experience in a restaurant. Erwan, the staff was really a wonderful and patient guy, typical javanese personality. In the end, the price you pay is really worth it. For this kind of dining with such abundance and freshly cooked menu, the price is very reasonable.
Just one suggestion if you wish to dine here, come when the sun is still out, there are lots of beautiful spots for photo taking in and out of the house. We came too late its already dark. The place might be too dark for some people. And there were mosquitoes too. Come wearing casual outfit cause it's in the garden, might be too hot or humid for some.

A very nice restaurant with relaxed ambience and good food. Soto ayam and rendang are the best. The owner is very nice and gave us a little tour around the property. The place also have this cute little boutique with fabulous dresses from tenun ikat.

Reservations are a must at The Sawah, a beautiful villa in the middle of the rice fields. First, you are a guest at a private home. Secondly this is an elaborate meal and needs time for preparation. After lunch, Wim will take you for a short tour and you can see the great care taken over the interiors. The meal itself, Javanese rijsttafel, is elaborate and beautifully presented. We enjoyed the vegetarian dishes, the tofu and tempeh the most. Definitely a highlight of our visit to Jogja
