Our family of four stayed at the Hotel Lemongarden for 5 nights in July and we wish we would have stayed a few days longer. The resort is unique, intimate, beautifully landscaped and something I doubt could be replicated. The resort is intertwined with the town and community. Below is some detailed information that might be helpful.
Room:
Definis Building rooms 4 & 5. Since our daughters were 17 & 20 we wanted two rooms near each other. We were offered three options and we chose the largest rooms. All the rooms are unique - so your experience will be different depending on the room selection. Definis 4 & 5: one was a deluxe suite and the other deluxe suite sea view. The sea view room was slightly larger. Both of these rooms share a very large rooftop terrance that was stunning (but given it was so hot while we were there the rooftop terrance wasn't used much).
Some of the rooms require a large amount of walking up hill/steps. If you have mobility issues, please consult with reception prior to making your reservation.
Rooms had great air conditioning and we enjoyed the in room coffee service. We felt the bathrooms were a little basic, the showers were small and very simple...not luxurious at all but they got the job done.
Food:
Great food - ate breakfast every day and dinner 3 nights. We enjoyed the seaside tables and service. If you get breakfast included - you can order whatever you want off of the menu and as much as you want. If you have any food allergies or vegetarian/vegan requests - tell the restaurant a day or two before your reservation so that they can accommodate your request. Goran & Mateo were very friendly and provided great customer service.
Location:
Adorable small town. Our boat tour picked us up right in front of the hotel. For the island tour - we were picked up one street away. There are two markets within a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Taxis to neighboring towns are available and the front desk can arrange pickup. There are ATM machines near the hotel.
Pool:
The water was warm, the landscaping perfect. The only downside was the cheap pool chairs and pads - they could invest some money around the pool. Pigeons roost in the building next door and the adjacent park. They can be loud at times. If you aren't a fan of birds - don't hang by the pool.
Beach:
You can not walk to the private beach in the summer - it is too hot. A golf cart is always available to take you. Many people ride bikes to the beach...but note...the road turns to gravel half way there. The beach area is very relaxing and shady. This was our favorite place. The sea is beautiful, clear, warm and peaceful. There are towels, bathrooms and food service. Note - 3 of us are vegetarians and there are no vegetarian meals at the beach. They will happily modify a recipe to make it vegetarian...but for the price, that doesn't make sense. They should add one vegetarian meal to the menu.
Spa:
They have a very nice private spa . To front desk can reserve your one hour time slot.
Transfers:
Do the hotel boat transfer. I simply emailed reception once and airport pickup was arranged. For 350 euro a gentleman met us at the airport with a sign....he drove us in his car three minutes to the dock. A speedboat delivered us to the hotel door within 30-40 min. Upon departure - for 250 euro a speedboat took us to Split for our next transfer. Super easy and stress free.
Bottom line: The hotel is like a dream. I can't think of a better place to relax and escape daily life. Keep in mind, the hotel is romantic, charming, and unique with excellent customer service that stands out. I would not call the hotel luxurious. I can't wait to return some day soon.
