We’ve stayed in much better rooms for a lot less money. The rooms themselves are tired & dated although clean. Bit battered round the edges and really hot. Having a noisy fan available to push hot air round isn’t really an acceptable solution. The curtains didn’t fit the window so they let plenty of light in. The bed,to be fair,was comfortable.
The corridors and approaches to the rooms were terrible….really battered and chipped and grubby with old tissues left all over the place. The grounds around them pretty tatty.
We went to the ‘luxury pool and leisure facilities’ …that’s a joke. They are old and tired and the pool looks grubby and definitely nothing approaching luxury. Grubby shoe prints everywhere and the changing rooms covered in muck.
Breakfast was ok but nothing special.
Wouldn’t stay here again ever. Wouldn’t recommend anyone staying here as there are much better hotels in the area.

We believe the hotel to be vastly overpriced. The house and grounds look magnificent, but the 'mews style' room left a lot to be desired. A few points about our room:
. Some distance from the administration area and car park, so an outside walk was required - pulling heavy luggage along pathways - a problem for senior people.
. The shower drainage was slow - obviously needed a 'clear out'
' The shower door was difficult and heavy to manoeuvre
. The toilet refill was very slow - don't try and flush twice! It continued to run constantly thereafter.
. No air conditioning - we were fortunate to avoid the recent hot spells
. One side of the room carpet smelt strongly of dogs

We passed on our comments to the administration on leaving.

We are experienced holidaymakers in UK and elsewhere, and 'know what to expect'!

The hottest place I have ever stayed in. Provided with two fans which just pushed the hot air around the room. No water provided in the room and we were charged £10 for two bottles of water (which were essential due to the temperature in the room). The window only opened an inch. People on our floor of the accommodation slept with their hotel room doors wide open all night - I’ve never seen anything like it. Unfortunately with two young children something I wasn’t prepared to do. I very nearly packed us up at 1am to drive 3 hours home! I can’t believe we paid for that experience!!
Awful.
The breakfast however, was lovely.
The rooms need upgrading to justify the cost of the stay. Air con is very much needed.
We wouldn’t stay again.
