Two nights in order to do some diving in the area, hence the quality of the accomodation was not highest on our priority, however, we are more than happy having chosen Villa Margherita: location can't be more central, room comfortable with sea wiew, no balcony ( we took the cheapest!). The garden with pool was pleasant, service friendly and helpful.
There was a Sardinian fixed menu available on Thursday evening, which we gladly chose: a classic menu di Terra, with mallureddus, porcheddu, and the rest of local delicacies with excellent Cannonau, what more could you need.
The breakfast, a vast combination filled the local, British and German tastes, all fresh and tasty.
In sum, one of the best experiences what comes to hotels.

Room Tip: A room with balcony for longer stays is recommended

This is a lovely hotel in a great location, just a short walk from the water and the attractions in town.

We were upgraded to a room with a terrace and our own hot tub, which we enjoyed very much.

Staff was great, with friendly, fast, and efficient check-in/check-out.

We had a large room with a comfortable bed. There were plenty of outlets for phone and laptop charging. The bath was also very large.

The WiFi was good, which was not always the case in Sardinia.

Breakfast was very much above average with a wide assortment of meats, cheeses, breads, pastries. The coffee service was fast. We enjoyed ours on the terrace overlooking the pool.

The parking was convenient, right in front of the hotel.

We were looking for a 'top' hotel in Sardinia that was quiet, comfortable, by the beach with things to do locally. This was perfect. The staff were fantastic! When we had to leave early due to a family emergency, they were only too helpful organising our unplanned trip home. Throughout our short time there, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was great. We had a fantastic view of the grounds, pool and bay. The mini bar was always fully stocked and the room was spotless. If I were to try to fault this hotel I would only be finding very small things specific to my taste such as the pool temperature, noisy a/c (as they all are!) and seemingly quite thin walls in the bedrooms. The gardens are enclosed and pretty with plenty of loungers to spare. The back gate led to the marine promenade with shops and restaurants in both directions and it is right opposite the famous 'rising mermaid' of the bay. If you like sea food, this is the place for you. There are few restaurants that do anything else and often the meat/veg option is missing entirely off menus. The beach is clean and long with places to sit, read and drink. It has 'relaxation' written all over it!. A tip for travellers - Golfo Aranci is a long way north east. If you want to do more than relax in the area, rent a car as transfers are expensive. It will cost you at least 100 Euros for a return taxi to Olbia! We will probably go back as we had to leave early. Mostly because this was exactly the place we were looking for!

Room Tip: Room 202 had the best view.

The unassuming and rather minimalist entrance to the Vila Margherita Hotel really doesn't do it justice. On arrival, the receptionist was friendly, informative and efficient, and it really is difficult to fault any aspect of this hotel.
Every single member of staff, without exception, was the model of friendly professionalism, the food choices at breakfast were consistently small (compared to bigger hotels) but excellent and frequently replenished.
Our suite overlooked the bay, was clean, airy and spacious and the cleaning staff were first-rate with our room always being cleaned whilst we were at breakfast.
We needed to use the laundry services of the hotel and found our clean clothes clean, ironed and folded waiting for us less than 24 hours later.
We had an evening flight but, rather than waste a day kicking our heels around town, the hotel secured our luggage and had shower facilities so we could go swimming at the beach and then get changed just prior to leaving for the airport.
The location of the hotel itself is ideally situated for easy access to the beaches, bars, restaurants, pharmacy and has an ATM directly opposite.
Facilities include a pool, small gym (could benefit from a cross-trainer of assault bike being added IMHO), steam room, massage and treatment facilities.
It's worth noting that the local market sets up literally on the doorstep of the hotel on Mondays and is a real treat to any visiting foodie!
In summary, the Villa Margherita Hotel is a superb family run hotel with a small, but exceptional, front of house staff that consistently exceeded expectations. You would have to look extremely hard to find a genuine fault with the hotel, its facilities or its staff.

I will start with the positives. Overall the atmosphere of the hotel is nice, the pool area and breakfast area are nice, the front staff is pleasant and the view from the rooms are very beautiful. HOWEVER, the actual beds in the room are literally like sleeping on a pull-out couch. I have never in my life slept on a thinner bed with rough sheets and an awful scratchy gross top blanket. For $300/night at a 4 star hotel, this bed was the quality of a Motel 6. Also, the room itself was very old and dated. This felt like a 2 star motel room. I would not stay at this hotel again unless they upgraded their rooms. At the end of the day, getting a good sleep is more important to me than the ambiance of the hotel.

Room Tip: See if they have a room without a paper thin bed.
