Once again the level of service , cleanliness and comfort of this hotel was excellent, the superb Management of this Hotel shows on every level and therefore it is 100% value for money.

Amazing service in the restaurant and bar tonight from the staff here at the Hilton garden Inn Sunderland. All staff have been so accommodating and friendly. Nothing is too much of a big ask for them! They have made our stay so lovely. Big shout out to Jonny and Evie who served us our lovely meal tonight and drinks. And carol through the day who served us our lunch and accommodated a special request.

Credit where credit is due, I stay and eat in different hotels all week with work and have done for the past 7 years so I’ve tried a lot of dishes and steak. The steak I’ve just had was up there with one of the best I’ve eaten. You can tell the chef knows and loves his steak. I’ve had to ring reception to pass a message on to him as it was that good! I’ve never done that in 7 years. Found out he is called John, please keep a hold of him. The fella knows how to cook. Absolutely delightful, take a bow John.

+ Perfect location for Stadium of light access. Easy parking. Decent breakfast. Ok gym.
- Really dated rooms. We could not close bathroom door (water damage). Room smelled terrible. A/c not functioning so alarm went off kn the middle of night.
Maybe just unlucky with room. But then if they still put people in those - that tells you something.

Your experience is far from the norm as you will note from the overwhelming level of positive reviews on this forum. Sadly the issues raised were not brought to our attention during your stay and we were not accorded an opportunity to put things right for you.
Our hotel is only 7 years old and many guests comment on how the hotel feels very modern and stylish, so I can only assume your reference to the rooms as "dated" is down to personal design and décor preference.
With regards to the Air-Conditioning, if the alarm sounds then the system is working correctly. It generally sounds when guests use items such as aerosols, vaping devices or would smoke in the bedrooms. This is in place to act as a deterrent in line with our clean air policy.
We were able to identify your reservation from a review you left on another forum and my Guest Relations Manager has made attempts to reach you via both email and telephone. To date we have not heard back and would be keen to discuss your feedback.

We went for Mothering Sunday lunch the food and service was superb, from the moment we arrived to when we left the team were very engaging. We had the carvery which in our opinion is the best in Sunderland, My mother in law said her sticky toffee pudding was the best she has ever had. Thanks again to the Team we will be back
