What a good recommendation this place was!
The staff were absolutely charming and very helpful but, the food was even better!
Our lamb and duck meals were cooked to perfection and that included the beautifully cooked variety of vegetables.
Thank you very much indeed. We shall certainly be returning.

Had a wonderful meal with fine local ales. Although on the small side this pub packs a punch with with the quality of food, service and character. 5 star all round.

On a very dreary April day, yes it was raining again, it was a pleasure to settle down in this little gem of a pub/restaurant. It was busy, so it is important you book, a party of four were turned away, very politely, as they were simply too busy.

A wide variety of food is on offer, some reasonably priced, other items more pricey. We were not hurried, shared two main courses which complemented each other and had a very relaxing business meeting.

Very friendly staff, lovely ambience and the interior belies the rather ordinary exterior, making it a pleasure to go in.

What a good village pub this is.

My mother lived in the village until recently so we have had many meals and many enjoyable visits over the years and it is a pub I would favour over most, if not all, in the larger area.

It is popular with the locals, the beer prices very reasonable and the real ale very well kept (Butcombe original for me ).
The staff are polite, friendly and helpful.
The food really is very good quality and very well cooked; the saute potatoes are not to be missed and the menu has some very reliable fish, meat and vegetarian favourites as well as some well thought out and very enjoyable specials.

People who expect a village pub to have a car park, to serve food at 6:00 pm, to serve cheap food midweek and who don't like locals drinking at the bar should look elsewhere, perhaps Weatherspoons.
