We made a booking as we knew it was going to be busy. We arrived at this beautiful location, however, we had to wait 20 minutes before we were even acknowledged. Once we were asked if we had booked and confirmed our booking, we were informed that our table had people sitting at it (with full beer glasses and the waiter did not want to ask them to leave a table they had clearly not booked) so we had to wait another 10 before another table was set for us. Not a good start! The venue was clearly understaffed as there were large queues waiting to be seated, order food and drinks. We shared garlic bread which came out 25 minutes after ordering, but our main meals took another hour to arrive; by that stage we were there for 2 hours. (The staff did inform us there was a 40 minute wait however, we were not given notice that this time had blown out to an hour). Then the young waiter took our full bottle of wine off the table without us noticing and when we went to pour a drink - it was gone. The staff did replace it and were very apologetic. All in all, this is a beautifully located and unique venue but they need to lift their game and ensure there are adequate staff in place, particularly for weekends, especially long weekends. On a more positive note, the staff were clearly run off their feet but everybody who we dealt with couldn't have been any more apologetic and helpful. The food was just ok but the live music was a bonus. So we would probably go back again but would choose a quieter weekend.

This place was very busy and rightly so as food was sublime although the sausages and mash was enormous and defeated the children. Here's a tip - order one portion between two if you value your waist line. The pork belly was delicious also. It was October fest so staff were in fancy German dress. There is a nice garden for the kids to play in and a view in the distance to the peninsular which makes you feel as if you are on top of the world and that Australia is the best place on the planet. It is almost British in its ambience before it was ruined by excessive house and road building. I would like to go every weekend and relax at this pub.

Went with young family and ordered immediately. Had to wait 2 hours for food, kids going crazy...and when it came, it was cold. Would never have stopped if I knew we'd be waiting that long.

In Melbourne with a friend for a weekend school reunion. Hadn't seen each other for ages so had a Thelma and Louise adventure on the Friday before the big event. This place was recommended by the cashier at the Arthur's Seat chairlift. Half the tables taken. Seated at a nice sunny corner table looking out at a rose garden which will be lovely when in bloom. Friendly waitress. I had the Guinness Beef Pie which was delicious. A bit weird that most of the peas were under the pie pot. My friend had the roast of the day (beef) which she reported was on perfectly baked veges with a delicious mini yorkshire pud. She also reported that the local lager on tap was very good. Plenty of parkng

There is a good range of menu choices, we had three courses and our entrees and desserts were share plates (there was four us) servings very generous and delicious. All our main courses came out at the same time (which can be a bit rare these days)
Atmosphere very homely and comfortable, inside or outdoor dining. Good range of wines to enjoy with our meal.
