Snuggled right in the old town square, this is the perfect location for exploring the old town. We took two adjoining rooms, parents and two adult daughters. Beautiful rooms overlooking the square. Very comfortable, very friendly staff. Whilst a bit more than we planned to spend on accommodation, worth it. Remember quoted prices often do not include taxes, and there is an additional "town tax" of 2.5 euros per person.

We stayed 1 night at the Theophano and couldn't have found a better location. The hotel is right on the main town square. Looking to the left out of our window you see the city hall and the main square is right below. Free parking is available a short walk away.

Our room (24) was on the second floor and was very large. There is no air conditioning and it was stuffy and hot when we first went in, but opening the windows cooled it down. The bathroom was very small which was odd given the large room. There is no lift.

The breakfast buffet had a good selection of food which was good. The hotel’s restaurant has outdoor tables and it was nice to have our breakfast there, right on the main square. The doors were open so there were flies in the buffet which was disappointing.
This is a nice hotel and we would recommend it.

We spent two very pleasant nights at this hotel in a fairy tale town, and could easily have stayed there longer. Directly on the market square, the hotel's main entrance is at the side. Our satnav led us to correctly to the hotel carpark down the small street Weingarten. From the car park it is an 80m walk over cobbled surface. If you do drive to the entrance i.e. following "Auffahrt zum Hotel" and up to the bollards that stop you driving onto the market square, you will have to reverse back 40m. The rooms have a pleasantly old-fashioned look. We had a large room which overlooked the market square. It was not particularly noisy, the double glazing cut out most of the noise. Our four-poster bed was comfortable and bathroom was great. Breakfast was luxurious and staff very helpful. The restaurant loved lovely food at a reasonable price (typically around €16 for a main dish). The wifi was rather iffy. Definitely recommended.

Room tip: Market square view great

Hotel Theophano was our choice for 1 night stay as we wanted to experience authentic German little town hospitality.

At arrival we were greeted by a friendly lady, who introduced us the room with big enthusiasm - we got the only pink room in the hotel - "girls room" as the lady said. Otherwise it would've been a nice surprise, but we were 2 guys, who were visiting this place. Although they seemed to have lots of rooms available, lady seemed very happy .. :)

Room itself was roomy, big bathroom with shower, small TV, pink furniture.. Since there was no A/C, it was very hot at night - even open windows didn't help much.

Breakfast was good, but kind of average. We went to have a breakfast at 9 am and some of the food was already finished - they didn't fill empty slots.
Coffee should be asked(?), since it's served in a thermos and nobody doesn't offer it to you.

We got what we were looking for - real German little town hospitality feeling.

Our room was spacious with modern furnishings and a very long bed.( twin and single) The bathroom had both a large shower and a massive ( double) bath that filled quickly. We had no noise disruption and had great views over the town. We arrived just after 10 am and were lucky to be given our room immediately. We were helped with our suitcases. Breakfast taken on the outdoor terrace overlooking the square was as expected for a hotel of its size with lots of choice from fresh food.
The central situation meant that we popped in repeatedly throughout the day whilst doing our walking tour to receive fresh water(and use the loos ).
The food both at lunchtime and dinner was good quality and reasonably priced. I can't understand the poor restaurant reviews as in our experience the outdoor seating was full by 18.30 with a mixture of locals and tourists whilst neighbouring restaurants appeared empty.
