Incredible

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 Jun 2024via mobile
This is without exception, the best hotel I have ever spent time in. The service was exceptional with attentive care, and remarkable attention to detail. The rooms were clean and well kept. The breakfast was perfectly executed but classic fare. The pool area was gorgeous and relaxing. We also had a 30 minute massage, which was added relaxation in the spa area. The sauna and steam could be ready with 30 minutes notice and were nice private areas to relax.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights following a stay in Dubrovnik

                      The positives
Super stunning location over looking a delightful harbour, great curb appeal.

The building is so unique - a beautiful stone structure built around a delightful pool area all light stone with beautiful cedar trees beyond which you can smell every morning

The pool - I swam everyday at 7am the water is clean fresh and the pool is immaculate. Beds and parasols are high quality and well maintained. Towels are out by 7am lovely quality well laundered.

Breakfast - lovely small Buffett style with high quality local produce - abundance of fruit, nuts, seeds, breads, cheese, eggs and so much more. Personalised China crockery with martinis Marchi is a lovely touch - however I would expect linen at the table not green rattan mats and paper napkins.

Concierge- all your requests are handled on whatapp. The service is efficient when you ask and personal. For example they messaged me before I arrived with helpful advice about ferry crossings sending me links for tickets etc.

Massage - really beautiful treatment. Spa area however lacks a 5 star ambience it’s dated and feels like a middle class gym changing area.

                      Recommendations

Overall - For the cost of this hotel I’d expect a more hands on service and higher quality furnishings in the bedroom and spa.

For example my husband had to get out of bed and walk to the supermarket to get milk to make a coffee at 7am as there is no room service and no milk in the fridge

The rooms - we stayed in a suite with 3 levels . Bed linen is nice quality but the rooms need more tasteful furniture , lots of bare walls and odd bits of furniture, more soft touches would be nice to warrant a £700 a night price tag. For example a turn down service, useful bedside provision such as tissues, a jewellery holder for women just small details are lacking. Bulbs were not working in the bathroom, no candles in the candle holders on the wall.
Extra pillows arrived when asked but they were lumpy and uncomfortable

Cups and food aren’t cleared away from the pool all day - for an example a child dropped some food by the steps to the pool and this remained there until the next morning. Toilets have not been cleaned overnight in the spa by the pool.

A drinks service round the pool would be nice with a light lunch menu, it feels soulless with no attention around the pool.

In summary this is a wonderful unique place to stay but having stayed in lots of 5 star places I’d expect more attention to detail and higher quality for the price we paid.

If you are looking for a romantic hotel by the sea, where you will feel like you are in a fairy tale, be sure to visit the luxurious castle hotel Martinis Marchi. It is also a suitable place for a wedding. You can arrive at the hotel in style by boat, your own or the hotel's, Martinis Marchi has its own marina. By car, you can get to the island of Šolta by ferry from Split, it takes about 50 minutes. Even if the hotel is fully occupied, you will not meet many people here, there are only 7 exclusive suites. I recommend staying in the tower. The suite is on two floors, I almost got lost in it haha, and you have the best view of the whole Maslinica. The hotel also has a fine dining restaurant right in the harbor. You can read what trips you can take here or what the beaches are like in a complete review including photos on my blog: hamiczech.tips, in Czech and English.

Room tip: Book the tower suite, it is amazing experience!

From organising our visit during Covid, the staff were helpful and once we arrived we were so welcomed. All the staff were incredible throughout with service and helping organise things. Very good restaurant for lunch and dinner, the ambiance is really nice too. Our room at the top of the tower was amazing and so picturesque. The village is perfect for a chilled experience and some nice local eateries. We would love to stay again, thanks for an incredible few days.

The staff- especially Mario- were so kind and helpful. From the minute we stepped off of our boat until leaving they could not do enough for us. Even messaging us before was useful and always with a quick response. The hotel is amazing, from the the location to the room decor and the pool area. Breakfast is actually in a kitchen and they cook the breakfast for you there and then which is just incredible. Thank you for making our honeymoon perfect! We can't wait to stay again next year.

Wonderful overnight stay for the second year running. Only has 7 rooms, so feels very exclusive. The hotel is a reconstructed nobleman's palace, built around a stunning pool area and faces on to the lovely Maslinica harbour and marina. Our room was large and comfortable, had a great bathroom and was very quiet. We had an excellent dinner in the restaurant. Lots of choice at breakfast and great to sit on the pool terrace. Very friendly and welcoming service. A pleasure from start to finish. Top tip: don't bother with booking the island's one and only taxi: the bus from Rogac to Maslinica takes 15 min door to door.
