My husband used to get donuts here when he was a little kid, and he's told me about how they would melt in his mouth. My ciambella was beyond delicious. I went back two days in a row. (If we had stayed longer, I would have gone back every day.) Three days later, and I keep telling everyone I know about the best donuts I've ever eaten. There's a magic donut woman and a magic donut man who host Bar Gatto Nero in the Pine Wood in Viareggio, Italy. There's a conveyor belt named "Pippo" shaped like an airplane that has been there in operation since 1954. "Pippo" transports the fresh donuts from the back room (where the donut magician works wonders). The donuts travel chug-a-chug to the front of the bar. Occasionally the trap door under "Pippo" doesn't open, so the donut woman whacks it with her wand, and the donuts drop down into the sugar bin. Succulent. Yummy. Worth it. I felt like I was ten years old again.
