went for a congress for a weekend! it is a clean property and the staff is really kind and willing to help their customers. the whole scenery is beautiful! the breakfast was ok and also there is parking space close to the apartments. and there is also heating at the rooms so it can be ok for the winter time!

This is a very comforatable, well appointed business hotel. Located outside of Rieti it provided a comfortable and efficient base for our annual Sales Conference. The catering was above average - although not the best coffee, wifi also a little less relaible. Rooms were comfrtable if spartan but we did not spend much time in them.

Room Tip: Some rooms have views others not, but it makes no difference.

Stayed here one night in September 2008.

The area around the hotel and the grounds of the hotels is very nice and beautiful. The buildings, pool area and restaurant is very classy done.

Staff friendly.
Good selection at beakfast.

Room was very disapponting and not a 4 star at all.
It seemed new but at the same time so new that it wasn't finished yet.

Nothing on the walls, paint on the panels and a lot of minor details like this.
Very vey small tv stuffed in a strange box in the cornor (why not put a flat screen on the wall?) which is not suitable for a 4 start hotel.
In the barhroom paints was already coming of due to bad airconditioning. The table holding the zink was blocking the door so it couldn't open fully.

The view from the room was nice - guess it is even more nice fro the rooms on higher levels.
But it was only this one small window which made the room very dark.

Disapponting room and certainly not a 4 star.
Come in summertime when you can use the pool and explore the area so you spend as little time as possible in the room.

Villa D’Assai is a three-star resort-style hotel located near the breathtaking nature reserve of Laghi Lungo e Ripasottile, where you will find placid lakes, murmuring rivers and endless stretches of farmland.

It’s also very quiet. In fact for the three days that we were there we saw no more than four fellow guests. This was great because we practically had the large pool to ourselves. Dinner on our first night at the hotel’s Tempe restaurant was no different: only one other couple was there.

The restaurant, which borders the pool, serves a small menu of local specialties, including delicious pasta dishes with Umbrian black truffles and freshwater crayfish. The wine list is decent but not well-stocked, so you may draw a couple of blanks before finding a wine on the menu that is actually available.

Our room was nicely appointed. The furnishings have a YMCA hostel feel to them, and there is no bathtub (in our room anyway; we can’t say for the others). Only Italian channels are available on the 17” TV, but the minibar underneath is decently stocked. Given the surroundings you don’t expect to stay in your room for much, so the spartan style didn’t bother us.

The bulky room key is attached to a thick chunky slab of clear plastic. I should say room keys, as there are three keys on the chain, one for the door, one to turn the power on, and one for the safe.

Exploring the countryside:

Colli sul Vellino, the village next to the hotel, is charming and quiet. Bordering Umbria, this location has the rolling greenness and hill towns you see everywhere in neighboring Tuscany, but without the tourists and fuss. The northern Lazio countryside has Tuscan-style villas, endless fields of sunflower, corn, olive and grape, terraced trattoria and ristorante overlooking scenic lakes and rivers, but none of the crowds. Mountain biking, hiking, or simply rambling in a rented car are great things to do here.

An excursion worthy of your time is the Castata delle Marmore, a waterfall fed by the Vellino river that is 15 minutes away by car. After a rainy day the cascade is magnificent and worth the steep descent to the foot of the falls.

Spoletto, a pretty hill town in Umbria, is one hour’s drive away, and the famous Assisi (where St. Francis’ famous church is) is another hour farther.
