We stayed here a few years ago and found it to be a very good hotel with attentive staff, good rooms and excellent food.
Things are very similar now except for the food in the restaurant in the evening - two weaknesses I would mention:
1. The menu is relatively restricted (two main courses only to choose from) and this only works if a range of different main dishes are available over the period of your stay. This wasn't the case for us. Over six days, pork in one form or another was served three times as a main dish - added to this was prosciutto in and amongst the pasta and starters. There was beef which was fine but never chicken or lamb. The fish dishes were fine.
2. Staff were stretched to the limit, this due in part to some large tables of tour groups. This resulted in very variable service. Another failing was the practice of bringing dishes to the table for only one member of a couple, the other dish coming after when the other person had almost completed their dish. This happened to us twice and we also saw it on a number of occasions with other couples. Dining is meant to be a social occasion, not one person watching another eat.
Would be interested to hear from management on this.More
