We had a wonderful stay at the Grand. We were unaware there was a parking garage but when we arrived they kindly took our luggage and parked our car for us. We stayed in room 405 which has a lovely view of Porto Venere. We would sit out on the small deck everyday just to take in the beauty!
The room was small but the bed was comfortable. Staff was helpful with restaurant suggestions and even made a reservation for us. The ferry to Cinque Terre is right outside the hotel. We loved the patio for breakfast dining. Lots of choices in the buffet. On our departure they packed our luggage and even drove our car out of ramp so we wouldn’t have to. Great service!

The Cinque Terre area was on our bucket list for years. We picked this hotel for our base, and we are so glad we did. Our standard room was large, very comfortable, quiet, and clean. The hotel was right on the main road so it was easy to explore the town and was a very short walk to the ferry.

Breakfast on their terrace...amazing! The view was stunning, and the food choices were extensive. The staff was so attentive and helpful as well which made the starts of our days there relaxed. We stopped in for a coffee there one night and they gave us a table overlooking the water. Coffee came with cookies, a nice surprise. The bartender that night took such good care of us even though we were only having coffee. We felt very pampered our entire stay there.

I can’t recommend this hotel enough. You will be so glad you stayed here to explore Cinque Terre as well as Portovenere. We loved the relaxed and uncrowded feel of Portovenere and would love to return.

Beautifully and conveniently situated in the heart of Portovenere. The hotel rooms were modestly sized but clean and modern. Nice breakfast buffet for guests at the restaurant with a beautiful backdrop.

The real appeal of this hotel is it's location -- it looks out onto the lovely harbor and is steps away from restaurants and ferry. Keep in mind the ferry does not run to all Cinequeterre stops during high seas so you need to check accordingly. The only way to easily access Cinqueterra is via ferry from here.

Celebrating our 20th Anniversary, we were so excited to visit Cinque Terre. Looking for a 5 Star hotel in Cinque Terre, the options are very limited, but we stumbled across the Grand Hotel in Portovenere by accident and SO THANKFUL WE DID! As technically the 6th village we did know what to expect. Drawn to the views we saw on previous posts and their website as well as their pricing, we decided to try it. It was absolute perfection!! From the welcoming hospitality at check in, to the incredible gracious staff at breakfast, happy hours and mid day snacks, to assisting us in reservations... on and on. We cannot say enough about the staff. So personal, so welcoming....like we were family. Just ideal...We decided to splurge and stayed in the Suite del Castello. And talk about the VIEWS!! Oh my.... having an incredible LARGE PRIVATE veranda we were able to lounge on the couches, enjoy drinks/meals/snacks at the dining table and just soak up the moment which created such peace soaking in the views of the colored buildings, church, and castle. It was divine. Sunsets and sunrises were stunning; gazing at the boats and water, listening to the villagers, hearing the church bell chime...Truly a dream. The room was wonderful- king size bed with exceptionally large shower/bathroom and large closet area, secondary smaller bathroom and separate living space with two arched doors leading to the veranda....and the views. Cannot say enough about the views!! We loved Portovenere so much we opted to spend a full day in the village exploring rather than head to the further villages. Best decision ever!! If you want exceptional service with incredible views, this is it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND and can not wait to visit again. The perfect memory for us!! Thank you Grand Hotel Portovenere for a dream vacation. Our only regret- not staying longer!

Our travel agent suggested this lovely hotel for our stay in Portovenere, and it was a great choice. Newly refurbished about 4 years ago, we stayed in room 306 with wonderful views
of the town and water. Lovely welcome, escorted to our room, advised of where everything was. Room had large bed, lots of space, two chairs, tv, fridge, safe, air con and double glazed doors onto Juliet balcony. All wonderful quality.

Bathroom large, with rain shower, bidet, hairdryer etc.

Breakfast held on terrace overlooking the amazing views. Self service with plenty of choice. Gluten free options available.

Dinner was held in dining room and on terrace. Food was fine (not exceptional) and service a bit slow. However terrace was full, with great views.

Front desk very helpful with getting taxis and advice on ferries.

Lift available, albeit not completely clear how to get to all floors! Hotel built into cliffs so stairs didn’t seem to go all the way down. Maybe that was just us!

Highly recommend. Ferry stops just up the road for easy access to Cinque Terre.

Dear JulieinOz,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent experience with us at The Grand Hotel.

It is wonderful to read that you had such a nice feeling with your accomodation during your time with us and thank you so much for calling out the team and the welcome you received. You're right to say the Hotel was built on the rock and there's no direct stairs to the Lobby , but we have external stairs and the main elevator getting there.

We hope to welcoming you back in the near future here at Portovenere.

Kind regards,
