Very nice room and large bathroom down the hall. Very nice and attentive hosts. Great location close to central piazza and port. Elba is lovely an Portoferrario is a great place to begin exploring it. Will come back

My wife & I stayed with Rossella & Bruno in June. We arrived & took a taxi from the port to the B & B for 10 euros. However, once you are familiar with the area it is walkable in 10 - 15 minutes with cases.

We were met by Bruno & he insisted on carrying our 2 fairly heavy suitcases up the 4 flights to the appartment. A very nice gesture & greatly appreciated after the 4 flights of stairs we had negotiated on the Toremar ferry. We were introduced to Rossellla & then shown to our lovely room, Grecale, with stunning views over the harbour & old town.

As most reviews have stated the room & apartment are very clean & the web site has very accurate pictures. You are very near to lots of restaurants, bars & some lovely shops, not all aimed @ the tourists. Rossella & Bruno are charming hosts & were quick to give us their personal recommendations for restaurants. Also, they gave us timetables for the local buses to other beaches & towns. This is either a short walk to town by the ferry arrivals or if going to Biodola beach the blue bus stops near to the Fiorella clothes shop on the harbour front & is 2 euros return. A great service & you can either buy tickets @ the tabbachi on Piazza Cavour, or from the driver for a slight surcharge.

Breakfast is over the Piazza @ Café Roma, where you each can have a fresh pastry & coffee for 6 euros. The staff are really friendly & welcomed us each day. You can sit looking @ the massive yachts docked in the picturesque harbour. However, in the morning the road is back open, so there is some traffic but we never found this an issue.

We had a fantastic time in Elba, & the holiday I believe was enhanced by staying @ this delightful B & B. Thanks Rossella & Bruno for your fantastic service on our last day & for making our holiday so special. We loved it.

Room tip: All rooms looked lovely but Grecale was special.

We stayed in the room that didn't have an ensuite but our bathroom (which was huge) was just across the hall so it was fine. The room had a large double bed and a beautiful view of the harbour and shops below. The place was very clean and tidy, and the hosts were absolutely lovely - so friendly and helpful! We had breakfast every morning in Cafe Roma across the road which was a coffee and a delicious choice of pastries. Porta del Mare is in a perfect location, about a 10 minute walk from the ferry and right next to the harbour next to all the waterside shops/cafes/restaurants. We had the best time staying here and only have great things to say about it. Thank you for having us!

Room tip: B&B on 4th floor so must be prepared to climb some stairs

Great stay in mid-April with Bruno and Rossella. Their appartment is located absolutely centrally in the old town, on the fourth floor (careful for the wary, no elevator, makes for your daily exercise) in a lovely re-furbished 19th-century house. In the cooler months, you'd be greeted by the sweet scent of their two woodstoves (one in the salon, one in their kitchen). Big room, amazing view on the harbour, which is literally on their doorstep.

They offer no breakfast yet will point you to one of the may bars/cafes in town where you can start your day.

Room tip: Ask for the room with a view on the harbour. Only draw-back on the week-ends may be the music drifting up from the bar on the piazza below.

Stunning location right in the centre of town. Spacious room with a comfy four poster bed and the most magical view over the harbour and the town square. Rossella and Bruno are warm and welcoming and created the perfect place for their guests. Highly recommended.
