A small and friendly hotel convenient to the train station and funicular up the hill to the old town. I stayed in modern addition across from the main hotel which was clean, cozy and comfortable. The proprietress is very welcoming and serves a wonderful breakfast of home baked treats. I really enjoyed walking thru old city and recommend the cave tour.

Hotel Picchio is very comfortable and friendly. Fantastic breakfast and the owners shared family olive oil pressed that week! Location is very close to the base of the funiculare and convenient. Parking available.

This place is run by Giovanna who is a very caring hostess. It is an average facility heightened by the selection of homemade cakes at the breakfast buffet. It is in the LOWER town. It is not in upper Orvieto, but this is a good thing because it is cheaper than lodging in Orvieto proper and it is a 5 minute walk to the funicular that takes you up to the upper town and the bus to Civita de Bagnoregio stops right by the funicular stop. There is one bus at 8 a.m. and not another until after 12 p.m. I was in the new building of the hotel; breakfast and reception is in the old building of the hotel. Both seem in good condition. It is an uphill walk to the hotel from the station but it's not too bad.

This is a 3-star hotel at the foot of old town Orvieto. But the location is great, because there is a funicular that goes up the old town. If you drive, it is much easier to park down hill. And if you take a train, the train station is 3 minutes from the hotel.

The hotel is very functional, as everything works, even though there are no bells and whistles. E.g., shower, air conditioning, comfortable bed, etc. The breakfast was not big but it contained everything that we wanted. It seemed to be a hotel run by an Italian family, which makes it better than some larger hotel chains. For example, the coffee we got was much better than the coffee we got earlier from a hotel chain.

At the end, for a triple room, we paid only 90 Euros. It really was great value for money.

The room was clean and spacious. A good place for visiting Orvieto and Civita Bagnoregio. The hotel is close to train station (5mins walk but a bit uphill). Easy to take bus to the old town of Orvieto and the Civita de Bagnoregio. The home made breakfast was very nice. A cup of cappuccino was amazing in the morning. You can pay 5 euro to park the indoor carpark whcih you don't need to park on the small road whole day.
