My wife and I spent 2 nights at this lovely place just off the town's main square. Our room was unbelievably romantic and serene, with idyllic views from the balcony overlooking the iconic Tuscan countryside. Lobby was inviting and beautifully decorated, and there's a flower-bedecked rooftop terrace where guests can linger and sip wine. The inn's friendly owner and staff could not have been more hospitable. This was by far our favorite lodging during our 10 days in Italy!

It's the people and location who make Meuble il Riccio such a marvelous place to stay. Gio, Ivana and Simona welcome in guests as if you were long lost family coming to stay in their home. They are warm and helpful, and Ivana wants to make sure everyone is well fed by providing far too many choices of fresh, homemade pastries every morning. The rooms they provide are spacious and comfortable, and many offer panoramic views of the valley below. Or you can visit the rooftop patio for beautiful views of the city and valley. Finally, as you step out the door, you will find yourself only a few easy steps from the Piazza Grande, a great place to start your tour or to sit and drink wine.

Room tip: Driving in Montepulciano can be difficult. Get a map and parking permit from the hotel before attempting to find the parking lot.

Firstly, the location couldn't be better - right off the main square. From the moment you get there Gio treats you like guests in his own home, which it is, the property has been with his family for centuries. We stayed our one night in the Riccio Suite and were very glad we did. It's very spacious and has it's own large balcony (directly opposite the main entryway in the inner courtyard with a window with a lovely view over the Tuscan Countryside. The window in the bedroom also has a great view looking out on the medieval cobblestone streets. Breakfast was great, Ivanna makes wonderful pastries and a great Cappuccino! We were only sad that we didn't stay longer!

Room tip: Get the Riccio Suite - the view from the window on the terrace is amazing!

I try to pick places Rick Steves recommends. This was one and he grossly understated how great and amazing this place is!! Rooms are impeccably clean, spacious, mine had a GREAT view and was plenty large. The staff & owners are so so so charming and pleasant. The breakfast, so worth the few extra dollars. Dont miss the tarts made fresh by Ivana.....oh my gosh....woth every calorie!!!! You want for nothing here at The Hedgehog!! I want to come back & stay longer!!! Till next time Gio and Ivana!! Gratia and ciao!

Room tip: Ask for a view. Some rooms with balcony or terrace.

This B&B was in a good position in the medieval walled city of Montepulciano. We stayed one night here. Our room overlooked the old street below. The service was good. Simona was helpful. There is a laundromat just near here so that was a huge bonus for us. Go for drinks while waiting for your laundry on the Piazza San Francesco at the Vineria Bristrot Spazio arte...very nice anti pasti..
