Stayed for one night on our trip from the Amalfi coast to the north. Hotel is fine, room is clean, good airco (which turns off when the target temp is reached), great shower.

However, we didn't really feel welcome. Receptionist was standoffish and when she couldn't promptly find our reservation, she asked us first when we reserved (weeks before) and then if it was at this hotel (really?!). After handing over our passports she did find the reservation, obviously.

Since we had some time to kill we wanted to go to L'Aquila on foot, wouldn't recommend: you have to walk quite a distance to the piazza di duomo and furthermore, alongside a busy 90km/h road without a sidewalk. So if you want to visit the city and not take your car: choose a different hotel.

Breakfast next day was good with different kinds of sweet and savoury options and coffee made to order.

Hotel in excellent position within easy drive of city centre, approximately 1 hour drive to skiing, and the beach, 1 1/2 hour drive to Rome.
The hotel was clean and comfortable, ( although the beds were quite hard!).The bathroom was modern with excellent shower.
The hotel has a choice of restaurants, both very reasonable, and delicious food.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The gourmet restaurant was excellent- both food and service, and great value for money.
I would recommend a car to enable you to visit the beautiful areas in and around L'Aquila.

I visited this place since there was a socisl event of a national (Italian) conference.
I can't evaluate price since dinner has been included in tegistration.
It was a big dinner (220 people).
Appetizers outside very good as well as the dinner.
Good rice in cheese, tortellini and meat.
Dessert was wonderful. It was based on lemon cream and lemon ice cream.

Last week my wife, three children, and I spent a few nights in L'Aquila so that we could explore Assergi where my wife's family is from. What better place to spend these nights than Magione Papale! It was elegant, highly accommodating, and charming! Our relatives told us it was once a mill. The building was beautiful, the restaurant was excellent and the service was superb! It was a perfect way to visit this region that was sadly ravaged by the earthquake a few years back. I'll go there again someday!
