We wandered in off the road, saw the terrace and lots of Italians having lunch and made a quick decision to eat there. The food was amongst the best Italian food we’ve had so far. Awesome olive oil ( again the best we’ve tasted!) and wonderful fruity vinegar really complemented the food. The basket of various home made breads was very much appreciated. ( we also make our own breads!) Wine was very reasonably priced. Service was great too.

We have stayed at the Squarcialupi on a number of occasions over the last ten years but little has been done to update and modernise the hotel, which is now looking rather dated.

Whilst there is much to commend there is now much in need of improvement. The breakfast is really very basic and unimaginative and we decided to visit the local cafe on our final morning instead. Whilst our (rear facing) room was spacious the a/c was rather ineffective and quite noisy at night and there was a lack of working electrical outlets for charging personal phones, cameras etc..

The pool area could be pleasant but it seems the sun loungers haven’t been updated in years and no parasols. Early one morning we were awoken but a group of completely unsupervised young children screaming and ‘dive-bombing’ the pool. We mentioned to reception staff but they seemed helpless to deal with it. On another afternoon the pool was ‘taken over’ by a family with kids screaming and neither parents nor hotel staff prepared to intervene.

Dinner has previously been a pleasant experience but this time disappointed. Deep fried pizza bites as nibbles (awful) and my wife’s appetiser was cold instead of properly cooked - we were told the oven hadn’t worked properly!

All told quite a disappointing experience!

We spent one night at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is great and the front of house staff friendly and informative. Breakfast also was good with variety - unfortunately we couldn't eat in house because of a filming crew but did enjoy a drink and the expansive outside view.

Room was large, adequate and clean. We did find the bed hard but this seems to be common in Italy. We would recommend and return ourselves.

Terrific location to do day trips around the area. Wonderful people at the hotel and all the restaurants in town. Room decor was a bit dated but very clean, spacious and comfortable. Nice pizza restaurant directly across the street to relax after a busy day touring and hiking in the area.

Service was excellent, all the staff were extremely helpful. Arrived late afternoon and directed us to private parking after GPS failed us, check in was easy. Room was above expectations. Breakfast on the terrace was a highlight.
Would highly recommend this hotel, set in middle of town.
Would like to thank staff for a great stay,
