On our way to the Valley of the Temples, we stopped for a quick brunch (paninis, sandwiches, croissants, coffee etc.) at this ristobar. Friendly bartenders. We had a nice lunch and could watch people go by when sitting outside. You can try it too.

Panini, pasta, salad, the usual, but scrumptious bruschetta and a fun cook who let us sample what he was mixing in the kitchen. Great little place to stop if you're going on foot to or from to the Valley of the Temples east entrance.

This place was recommended to us as a local sandwich shop. The staff was super friendly and spoke decent English. The sandwiches were yummy and they put together something delicious for our 4 year old. The chef was very personable and really into what he was doing. We had a great experience. And it was really cheap.

Laura and I ate at Io e Te twice while in Agrigento during Christmas of 2015.

We were staying at the Hotel Villa Athena so we were just around the archeological park from the restaurant. If you’re coming from Villa Athena you will head South on the SP 4. You’ll bear to the right at the traffic circle to go East on via passeggiata archelogica. At the next traffic circle you’ll begin to turn to your right to catch the SP 4 coming back down the other side of the archeological park but instead of getting back on the SP 4 you’ll bear a little further to your right and enter a parking area you’ll see running parallel to the SP 4 as you’re turning. You may miss it the first time but it’s easy to find when you know it’s there. You can park in this lot and walk across the street to Io e Te. If you query Io e Te on google maps and then look at the street from satellite view you’ll see this parking area clearly.

The man who seemed to be the owner (he was there both times we went in) can speak a little English which worked well since I had little Italian at the time. I began to ask for things and he said “I make panini” and pointed to an array of what was available. I started to name off things on a sandwich and he began to shake his head and again pointed out what was available in the window of his deli area. In essence, what was on display was what could be ordered. If you don’t see it, don’t ask for it. I went on a bit and then understood and asked for two sandwiches. The sandwiches were fantastic and they were huge. Ham with cheese on toasted bread and with marinated mushrooms added for flavor! Bellissima! They were so good we bought an extra in case we got hungry again later.

A few night later we both had a massage at the Villa spa and we didn’t want to go out to eat so I ran the scooter over to Io e Te for sandwiches again. I came in expecting I knew how to order this time and asked directly for the Panini again but this time there was no sandwiches to be had. What was available tonight was potatoes scrambled with eggs, zucchinis and onions that had been sautéed in olive oil and a wonderful berry tart. I got some of all and the owner boxed it up to go. It all fit in the carryall on the back of the scooter and we ate it in our rooms.

The first trip to Io e Te cost us 13 Euro and the next was 15.50 euro. An amazing value and great food. We are planning Agrigento again for Christmas 2016 and we will certainly return to Io e Te!

We stopped here for lunch both days in Agrigento and found it full of Italians--a good sign! It was very conveniently located near our hotel, and near the Valle dei Tempi. You go up to the counter and select your food, and they prepare it on the spot, hot or cold. (It might have helped that I speak Italian.) We had salads -- quite large, more than we wanted, really -- but others had hot dishes like pasta or grilled meats. Very pleasant service, very good food.
