The gardens at Abbeywood are lovely. They also have a few animals. The restaurant is very good, delicious food. There is a conservatory function room with white leather furniture. I also liked the arboretum. A beautiful and relaxing place. the gift shop has several unusual gifts and things for the home and garden. Its well worth a visit.

The setting is just beautiful, although the outdoor area was a bit all over the place, not neat and tidy like the rest of the place. We sat outdoors, it was beautiful and the food was good. However, no one greeted us as we came in and we were the only ones in at that point so it wasn't busy. The coffee was luke warm and took 10 minutes - even though it was quiet. Our food was served and we wanted another drink - a quick run to order at the counter before my food went cold - again no interaction, it was all too much trouble. The bacon sandwich was divine despite being on cheap sliced bread and the eggs benedict with smoked salmon looked incredible! The second coffee was piping hot as requested! I'm hoping it was just an off day as its so beautiful and the food is good it would be shame to not visit again!

After a lovely walk around the gardens, for which there is a charge, we decided to go for a drink & a cake in the cafe. The cafe was uncomfortably hot especially in the conservatory area so we chose to sit outside. Of the 10 or so tables only 3 had parasols but of course on such a hot day these were already taken so we had to sit at one in full sun.

We each went to the till area and individually ordered a POT of tea (£2.50) and a piece of cake (£3.50), the first of the 5 of us asked if it was a pot of tea not a cup, yes was the reply.

Back in our seats , the cakes arrived quickly, and though not the best victoria sponge I have had it was decent enough. Then ONE POT of tea arrived for 5 of us, it contained 5 tea bags in not an overly large pot, one I would say offered as a pot for 2 possibly 3 at most. Outrageous. Besides the £12.50 we had paid between us, how we to get each cuppa to our own individual liking ?

I then went back to till and asked if this was right. Told it would be sorted and another same size pot did arrive quickly along with a pot of hot water that had been requested originally by one of the group. It was still impossible to get the cuppa we each wanted.

I thought this was a great money spinner for Abbeywood, and would've thought they could afford to buy more parasols with their high profit margins.

After visiting the Gardens which are lovely and beautifully maintained we went to the restaurant. There is plenty of room both inside and out with some great views. The menu is pretty comprehensive with some quality choices of meat and fish. We only had tea for two but the food looked fresh and well presented with plenty of hungry mouths to feed? Dogs are allowed and water and biscuits provided. A really enjoyable morning, if you haven't been to the gardens before go there first then have lunch or afternoon tea, highly recommended.
