Went into this cafe today with my wife and she wanted a decaff Cappuccino, and I ordered a Flat White. Before I write further I would refer to the comments made by another customer in late July, the 'interpretation' of a cappuccino and Flat white is appalling, served up weak and flavourless. This has nothing to do with the quality of the coffee beans it's to do with how the staff prepare and put the ingredients together.
For the benefit of the staff and management, this is how you make a cappuccino (from Wiki)
Cappuccino is a coffee drink that today is composed of double espresso and hot milk, with the surface topped with foamed milk.[1] Cappuccinos are most often prepared with an espresso machine. The double espresso is poured into the bottom of the cup, followed by a similar amount of hot milk, which is prepared by heating and texturing the milk using the espresso machine steam wand. The top third of the drink consists of milk foam; this foam can be decorated with artistic drawings made with the same milk, called latte art.
It is not made with a single shot of expresso, and you do not proceed to fill the cup with hot milk and then top it with a 1/8th of an inch of foam off the steamed milk.. Otherwise you get a milky, weak flavourless hot drink which does not resemble in any way a cappuccino.
Similalry a Flat White is made as follows
Prepare a double espresso (doppio) whilst remembering to ensure a nice even tamp for a smooth, pure coffee extraction
Foam your milk prior to brewing your espresso, paying attention to creating a nice smooth microfoam, not a stiff dry foam
During the latter stages of you milk foaming, start brewing your espresso
After frothing your milk, gently tap the jug or bump on a table to remove any unwanted large air bubbles
Finally, pour 100ml of the frothed milk into the espresso, this should create a rich floating crema on top of the milk
First we are told that all your coffees are made with a single shot of expresso, then we were told 2 pods were used, Clearly you have no idea and bearing in mind your response to a previous complaint, little has been done to serve your coffees correctly. It would seem as if you are cutting costs by using single shots but still calling these cappuccinos and Flat Whites, and just dishing up flavourless beverages.
You Manager was rude unhelpful, clealry thinking her interpretation of the two drinks was the only opinion that counted, and did not even offer a refund, we left (drinks we didn't touch other than an initial sip to formulate the opinion) and won't be back
