I visited the WSR, on a beautiful June day, I had, had this journey planned for a while. The station at Minehead is beautifully restored, a special note must go to Karen in the ticket office who gave us excellent advice with regards to blue badge and parking. The journey is 22 miles through beautiful coastline and countryside. Every station is superbly restored. We got off at Bishops Lydeard and watcher. All of the staff are superbly friendly. I have visited many heritage lines the WSR is the jewel in the crown, the only thing that spoiled it was screaming uncontrolled kids.

We have travelled many heritage lines and thought that this was one of the best. Horrific weather did not dampen our spirits and we thoroughly enjoyed riding the full line and back. I can imagine on hot days stopping off and going to one of the beaches enroute or just hanging our in Minehead.

A well run line that is the longest steam railway in the UK. Plenty of stops if you want to see anywhere in particular, Blue Anchor / Watchet / Bishops Lynyeard are good. Rolling stock is authentic of early British Railways times and buffet or dining services are available.

Had an excellent day travelling the steam railway with first class volunteers operating it. It was a lovely hot sunny day and the friendly helped make my birthday treat a pleasurable one. There's a buffet coach with cream teas and cakes and other snacks
