This is a really good restaurant, in a great location overlooking Poole Harbour with a big public car park opposite. The main restaurant, cool white with some interesting art on the walls is spacious and comfortable. They have a large menu with some meat options as well as lots of fish and shellfish. My steamed scallops chinese style and hake en papillote were both delicious. There is a comprehensive wine list, and we drank a lovely, smooth Portuguese Cabraz. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, though sometimes a bit familiar and they did lose a bit of focus towards the end of the evening as it got quieter. Otherwise highly recommended.

Travelled for 2 hours to enjoy a birthday lunch here and we weren't disappointed. Really easy to find with a massive car park directly opposite the restaurant. We started with a shellfish platter brimming with prawns, langoustines, scallops, mussels, clams, crab etc which was delicious. Then we both enjoyed lobster and chips washed down with an excellent house white wine and couldn't resist finishing with a chocolate fondant. Yum, yum, yum. Couldn't quite understand why we were surrounded by older people eating chicken...we thought everyone knew RS is renowned for his fish, despite his recent travel recipe books!! Would definitely recommend.

We took the opportunity to eat at Rick Stein's in Sandbanks as were were in the area and his name jumped off the page.

Sadly, I feel the Stein name and reputation do not seem to seem to live up to expectation. I suspect his TV persona take the expectation to a level hard to live up too.

The server on greetings could not have been more lack lustre if he had tried, just enough communication to find out who we were and to say follow me. He then led us to a table, that after being seated, we realised was probably among the worst positioned. I accept that someone may have to sit there, but not when there appear to be far superior tables free.

Our food choices were acceptable, with my wife thou thoroughly enjoying her Dover sole., but to my mind as all our choices were fish based things should have been exceptional not acceptable.
